In need of improved course conditions
This isn't the first time I've played Antler Creek, but it had been at least a year since the last time. I generally don't like to complain, but I was very surprised to find what poor condition the course is now in. Everywhere was substandard from the Antler Creek I had known: bunkers with little sand, and poor quality, coarse sand at that; putting and reading the greens was a guess with little grass, bare spots, and too much sand, lots of bumps; fairways were in poor shape and spotty in watering treatment; and even the tee boxes (I played white this day) left something to be desired in way of quality grass and preparation. I'm not sure what's happened in course superintendency, but a good course like this has gone downhill.
Course is in good shape. The people that work there are very friendly. My type of golf course
Dirty
I am sorry to say, I found this course disappointing. Starting with, the parking lot to the bag drop off. No easy way to get your clubs from one to the other. Check in was fine. Went to the carts, NOT cleaned or wipe off from AM moisture, the first one had cigarettes butts in cup holders:( The second one, still had trash in it. Then on to the Practice putting green, no pins or flags. Range, terrible shape. I feel sorry for those who play golf and live in the community and want to play. I can not believe the course does not have enough money to pay for maintenance and up keep. Basically and sadly, there is NO pride from anyone who works there. Some easy fix ideas. Offer kids and adults in the neighborhood a job "opportunity" to work for even if it is trade for play. I am sorry, I even needed to write this or took the time. But, It needed to be said, if they care to ever have a course that people would consider returning too.
Poor maintenance
The course doesn't have a bad layout, I enjoyed the challening back 9. The maintenance overall was poor. The tee boxes were sand and weeds, the majority of the traps were full of weeds or water.
The greens were in pretty good shape, For $50 not a bad deal.
Not a golf course
They need to shut down and have a rebuilding year.
Everything is concrete and it plays like it hasn't been watered since it opened.
The fairways are gravel, the greens are weeds and spotty dirt, the bunkers are hardened with weeds growing all around, and they haven't had range balls ready the last half dozen times I've been.
Surprising Nice Course
While some tee boxes had no grass and some greens were less than desirable, really liked the course layout and the challenge. Very interesting course and I will come back for sure. The restaurant was great with a lot of offerings and friendly staff. The golf course pro shop guy could not have been more welcoming and professional.
Additional Maintenance Investment Needed
- marshall did not maintain orderly pace of play - several groups falling way behind schedule
- very lacking maintenance in numerous holes
really terrible in some places
Maybe as a last resort
In my forty years of playing golf in 15ish states and several countries, this was the worst maintained course I have ever played. There were weeds and grass growing in the sand traps (not just a few), though there was not much sand in them. There was lots of dirt where there should have been grass growing in the fairways. The "rough" was basically a combo of weeds and dirt. The tee boxes were a disaster. The management clearly does not care about the course.
Course Should Not Be Open
Absolutely horrendous course conditions. Tee boxes were absolutely dead and brown. “Greens” were so rough that it was impossible to put. Not even worth the low price of admission.
not good
no starter, there were twosomes, threesomes, fouresomes, twosomes that jumped in front of the foursomes, drainage was horrible. course layout is not good for the rookines. please go somewhere else you will have so much of a better time.
Maintenance is really rough, should not be full price
The greens are really rough, fairways are blotchy, bunkers are wet, compacted and overgrown. We had to play all greens as automatic two-putts and lift and place anywhere through the fairway, rough, and bunkers. The design and layout are actually quite good. I can't recommend it now but perhaps next year? It is about like playing on the day of aeration and plugging.
They obviously need money for a maintenance turnaround, suggest they continue to charge full price but offer a 50% off bounce back during off-peak times. $300 for my foursome was too much. After finishing I inquired about a rain check or bounce back and was told they don't do that. This would help them fund repairs up front AND generate cash on the next visit.
Thumbs down
Greens are in sad shape, bunkers even worse, I would be hard pressed.to say the course was worth playing for $25. The layout is good, just course condition is poor.
We arrived for a 9:40 tee time and the restaurant, snack or bar were all closed. We couldn’t get anything to eat or drink until we made the turn. There were no water jugs on the course and the course was in less than average condition. Wouldn’t recommend this course right now. Hopefully they’ll get things figured out because the course could be really nice.
Hard to call this a golf course. Simply unplayable.
Sad days for this course. Seems like they’re running it into the ground to build more houses on. I wouldn’t play here for free.
Fair course for the money
Visiting Colorado for a week and looking for a good golf value. Unfortunately, Antler Creek isn’t it. The course isn’t in the greatest shape - especially the greens. We also encountered standing water in several fairways. We would agree that it’s a challenging course, but what made it most challenging was the lack of maps or hole layout signs on the tee boxes. We asked for a map in the clubhouse before playing and we were told that they don’t have maps (not even on the scorecards) because the course is “pretty easy to follow”. No disagreement there, but on the longer holes we had no idea where the greens were. Kept us guessing. With so many other good courses in the area, we won’t be playing this one again in the future.
How to ruin a good golf course.
I used to be a member and drove an hour 3 times a week to play. Good course, dificult to very difficult if you played the wrong tees. I played it yesterday for probably the third time in the last 5 years. The course has gone downhill and yesterday I would have not played and asked for my money back except it was our mens traveling group. The fairways were not the best but playable. Greens were atrocious. Bunkers even worse, Baked and crusty with weeds growing throughout. Our 4some was on the 7th tee when a larger mower came by and kicked dirt and weeds in our face. The temperature was in the mid 90's and no water on the course. All in all a poor experience. Needless to say our group of 20 won't be back.
Not worth your time or money!
I knew the course nay not be in great shape, but it was even worse then I expected. This was the third time I've played this course and the last. It's a shame too because the course is situated in a nice neighborhood with views.
Course condition
This course is now (late July) in the same sad condition that other area courses were in last Apr/May after a brutal winter. The other courses have returned to near normal, but this one has not. It looks like a death spiral where they can not afford to provide sufficient mnx, and noone wants to play here which would bring in the needed revenue. Could be wrong, but that is my somewhat trained eye assessment.
