Stonebridge Golf Club

About
Stonebridge Golf Club is an Arthur Hills design that is one of southeast Michigan's best kept secrets. The championship layout incorporates the plentiful water and woods of the natural terrain. The white sand bunkers that are strategically placed throughout add a beautiful contrast to the lush green of the golf course. The undulating terrain is one of the layout's most prominent features. Elaborate hills and greenside swales protect many of the putting complexes. The putting surfaces on the front nine are relatively calm when compared to the back nine where most of the greens are double-tiered, ridged, or layered. The par-4 15th is one of Stonebridge Golf Club's most scenic and challenging holes. With water in front, back, and right of the green, this is one of the toughest approaches on the back nine.

Will return to Stonebridge
Went out at the earliest tee time, which happened to stay a bit foggy for 3 holes, but didn't loose a ball. The green were very true and in great shape. The tee boxes and fairways were in pristine condition. Rough was pretty deep and fairly thick. A great mix of par 3's, par 5's, quite a few short to mid length par 4's, though they all had some features that made it a problem if you mis-hit your drive or second shot. Open enough on most holes to have a bad shot and still be able to play your ball. Tree, bunkers, creeks, and ponds let the course protect itself if you're hitting it wildly or daring to take on the greens from further out. Will definently be back out on this course.
Great featues and variety of holes at this course.
Golfnow.com produced a great rate for this course. We were able to tee off at 7:00 am and finish our round as a two-some prior to 10:00 am. Conditions were excellent and there the holes produced great variety.
Too many houses
Too many houses. Grass is too long. Lost so many balls in the rough...
The course is always in great shape
I have played this course for years and I have always enjoyed it. I scored my first hole in one on this day on number 12 174 yards with a 4 iron so my review is GREAT!!! I also had my best friend and my brother in law there to who witnessed it too.
Very Challenging, Accuracy off the tee is a must
Probably the nicest of the Arthur Hills designs in the area, Stonebridge is a very difficult course in which accuracy off the tee is a key. Many holes dogleg around hazards and Out of Bounds is in play on many holes with the proximity to houses. The course is always in very good shape but the last time I played it seemed overwatered as the course was very wet despite the area having no rain in the past 5 days. The greens are usually in good shape but run a tad slower then most other courses in the area and could use another foot or two of speed added.
course was very nice , well groomed just alot of water from previous night rains
I would golf the course again. I felt the (manager ) asume was rude to the customer as well as talking down his employee's infront of the customer Poor management
Great fairways
Went here after work on a Friday and the course was in terrific shape. The fairways were cut perfectly and the rough was just long enough to be a challenge.
Tester for all elements of your game and exposes weaknesses
I really enjoyed playing this course on the back tees. The tee shots required sheer accuracy and smart ball placement on the fairway as well as knowing where you can bail out. Shots onto green were the greatest challenge and the course will punish you for missing the greens. Chipping in the rough is a strong skill set you can bring to the course to improve your score.
My driver stayed in the bag most of the time while the 3 wood, 2 iron and 3 iron were the most active clubs at the tee while mid iron, short iron and gap wedge were the most active clubs for the approach onto the green.
The greens can be little bit faster for better release and take the slope of the green at full advantage. Plus the yardage of the holes on the backside of the scorecard was a great idea! All courses should do that to speed up game play and better club selection from the tee.
Beautiful course but players were very slow.
I was unfortunate to get behind a group of players from one of the week day leagues and since they apparently only play 9 holes, were in no hurry. It took us a good part of 2 hours and 45 minutes to play those nine hole. So if you want to play this beautiful course in a timely manner, avoid the late afternoon starts. Otherwise, it is a very well manicured course that had some nice, challenging holes. A definite must play if you are in Ann Arbor...just not late in the day.
Great Course Tested your approach shots.
Great condition tee to green. Good bunkers. Friendly Staff.
Good value
Enjoyable course, assuming you play from the appropriate set of tees. Greens are on the small side, so accuracy is important. Houses encroaching on many of the holes can be in play if you spray the ball. Conditions were above average. Biggest complaint was that not all sprinklers are marked, and it was difficult to find yardage at times. Teed off at 11AM, and pace of pay was OK for about 6 holes, then it became all stacked up the rest of the way. 8-minute tee time spread may be a little tight.
Great course!!
Only gave the course condition a review of "maintained" due to
the fact that we got a LOT of rain this week, which probably kept
some of the "manicuring" to a minimum. But, I have played the
course before, and "pristine" is the norm!
Overbooked course. Pace of play horrible.
Good course overall except pace of play. They clearly overbooked the course. Did not see one ranger on course to keep the pace of play going.
It took a little over 5 1/2 hours to play 18. Ridiculous... I recommend only playing course at twilight...
Excellent Value
This was a great course for the money.($40.00). At 6500 yds
from the white tees, it might be a little long for some. The rough
was long and thick, forcing alot of layups( the result of not hitting
the fairway). Most of the greens were well protected, requiring
a accurate approach. Will definitely play here again.
excellent course
Excellent course. Cart directions not the best if you are not familiar with the course. Cashier not the freindliest but the other staff was great. I will return esp. at the golfnow rates.
Course was decent, driving range was horrible, would not have wasted $8 if I'd have known range conditions.
My son is a head pro at a course in Florida, and I play a lot of golf, and I had not played here in years, and was highly disappointed. First of all, you go in and pay but then you're on your own, NO ONE on the tee to guide the people by their start times, it was kind of a joke, guys waiting on the tee and making up their tee times, very unorganized to say the least. Weird layout too where you cannot hit driver on a lot of the holes, a lot of gimmick holes to say the least. Would not play there again, especially since I drove a long distance to play there.
Enjoyable round
Overall course is in good condition. Well worth $34 Sunday morning tee time. For the most part fairways are wide, rough is long and thick, greens are moderately undulated and average speed. Highly recommend playing out of the fairway, club up if you spray the ball with your driver.
Arthur Hills winner.
I love Arthur Hills courses, and this one does not disappoint. It gets a little cramped with houses in a couple spots, but generally offers that classic Hills experience. Wide fairways with strategic placement required. Very forgiving, but requires good ball striking in order to score.
I play it all the time. Great value. Don't give up looking for the clubhouse - it's back there.
Good shots are rewarded, but there are some very tough holes
It helps to be able to hit good long irons off of several tees. The greens were in very good shape and rolled true. There is a lot of OB and water on this course, some of it hidden if you've never played here before. I got out early and played through two foursomes and got in 18 holes in 2 hours and 9 minutes.
once good coarse
Theres no one to coordinate the golf here, what happened to the days where a starter would group, groups together to make foursomes, plays slow here with no one to speed it up, the whole coarse is filled with twosomes.
Coarse conditions arent great and the greens SLOW.
