California Golf Course
About
The California Golf Course sits on land that slopes gently and offers a nice view of the Ohio River; however, this course ain't just pretty to look at, but laid out to play in a manner that will test seasoned golfers and welcome novices to the friendly golf course where the trees are old growth.
California Golf Course provides 18 holes of par-71 golf over 6,227 yards. A round of golf kicks off on a par-4 hole that plays to 367 yards from the Blue tees. Because this is one of Cincinnati's longer municipal golf courses, power golfers will appreciate the chance to open up their games a bit more, with about a third of the holes measuring over 400 yards from the Blue tees, including a pair of par-5 holes, the second and ninth holes.
As the California Golf Course is a municipal golf course, expect low rates, and those who can swing a round of golf during the workweek can expect them to be even lower.

Good mix of long and short
Course is always well maintained and not overbooked. Staff is amicable. This is my first choice for a tee time, in the tri-state area.
Busy day
Front 9 was slow, as a single peeled off from our tee time and played in between us and the group ahead. They all ducked out at the turn and we played the back in :90. Fairways are a little shaggy after all the rain, looking forward to playing here once it dries out.
Fair and fun
Played on a wet afternoon, the course absorbed the water well. Fair test, no gimmicks. Lots of elevation change, consider a push cart if you're walking. Spartan clubhouse, but the staff was great.
Good time
Played with a random pair. Pace of play ahead and begins us was perfect given a very busy day. Roughs off fairways were long in some places but greens played fair
course always in good shape
My only problem they let a group five go out they wouldn't let anybody play through. group of five should never go out.
Slooooow play, rough & poor course conditions
2nd time here, and haven’t made it past 15 yet. So incredibly slow. 5 hours at 14 was again too much to bear., especially on a course like this. On a positive note, The greens were smooth and ok. But an awful lot of just bare dirt and weeds everywhere. Tee boxes half grass, and very beat up. Bring a helmet out here - over half the fairways had folks playing a different hole in them. Maybe not fair but it seemed to be a place where bad players come to get drunk outside. The guy in front of us played with a horses head on… yup. Starters were nice, but no one out to see what’s going on. Not returning, cannot reco this to anyone who cares about actually playing golf.
Course usually gets overbooked. More often than not. Overall course is always up to par
Great course.
First time here. Best golf course I've played in the Cincinnati area. Fairways are in great shape. Roughs aren't so rough that you can't find errant shots. Trying to figure out my schedule to play here again.
Only played 9 holes
Could not finish my full 18 holes only was able to get nine in because my buddy just wasn’t motivated enough had to leave for work…
Snack bar
Played 18 holes today came up to the snack bar to start the back nine went into grab a beer from the snack bar and the attendant was more concerned with having a personal conversation on her phone and taking care of me so I walked out and continued my was very disappointed in the customer service ….
Stormy Weather
Aside from almost getting struck by lightning California is a good public course to play. The course layout is pretty good. If I hadn't found a good deal on the GolfNow I probably wouldn't play there because I think the regular fees are a bit pricey. Plus they don't offer a veteran discount like most other courses do.
