Franklin Bridge Golf Club
About
Franklin Bridge Golf Club (formerly known as The Crossing GC) runs alongside the Harpeth River, which borders 15 of the course's 18 holes. Opened in 1970, the course has a classic layout that will appeal to a wide range of skill levels. Some of the holes definitely present a formidable test, the 16th and 18th for example, which have been hailed by local media as two of the best and most challenging holes in the state, but it is the par-4 ninth with its island green that is the course's signature hole. Although the layout offers a fair challenge, there is also some room for error that makes it more approachable for beginners. In addition to the course, Franklin Bridge Golf Club boasts an 8-acre driving range as well as chipping and putting greens equipped with a practice sand bunker.

A Quiet Wednesday
FC is an excellent place to play a round of golf whether by yourself or with a group. The only issue I have ever had here is that some of the members are not well schooled on golf etiquette with regards to slow play. I was stuck behind a threesome for six holes on the back nine that were particularly slow and they were obviously not concerned at all about letting me play through. What was considerably disturbing is the Marshall was in the parking lot on here phone for the entire time, about twenty minutes, when I was leaving which leads me to believe she was not doing what she needs to do.
Above average course for below average price!
It was my first timing playing at FC and I was impressed with the scenery of the course. The layout was challenging but also lauded out well for the intermediate golfer! I would definitely recommend and will for sure be back frequently.
Forrest
First course was easy to find, price got a deal on Golfnow. Cart paths only. Bummer. Was wet. Course very good shape. Very busy, at least 20 people on the range. I was told ranger would be on you if you fall behind, he was around but he was very nice. Would love to play again when dry. Staff nice. Don't plan on hitting the driver on all 4/5's at least 3/4 holes you need a good layup. Worth the play. About 4 1/2 hr round.
Good Course, but could be really great with a few improvements
I like playing this course. It is a good challenge for the average player. However, I would like to see the course make some much needed improvements that I have listed below.
- Course needs to be mowed more often. Just about every hole has clumps of grass built up in the rough areas, which make it more difficult to find your ball if you miss the fairway. This also impacts the pace of play at the course when people have to spend time looking for their ball in non hazards. The rough on this course is think and difficult enough without the added obstacles. The grass clump build ups are not limited to the rough. Many fairways and tee boxes have the same issues.
- Overgrown non water hazards could be cleaned up on 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 15. If cleaned up, and clearly marked as hazards would make the course much more visually appealing.
- Main thing there could do to really make the course more visual appealing would be to clear the overgrowth on their banks of the Harpeth River. Doing this would make holes 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 16 gorgeous holes.
Good Round
I enjoy this course very much. The people are extremely friendly and helpful. I recommend this course as often as possible.
Great staff, fun course to play
Tee times seemed to be spaced well enough that we did not catch any other groups nor did any catch up to us. Rules of play at the course were great in my opinion. If followed, they prevent any change of pace to your game.
Forrest Crossing
Good value. Unlimited range balls also included.
An inconsistent experience
Forrest Crossing is one of the most popular golf courses in Franklin, and for good reason: it's Players Club might be the best deal in town. For $30/month, you can get two free buckets every day and discounted rounds all week ($20-25 before noon, $15 after 1pm and $10 after 3pm).
Half of every green is being aerated right now - they're almost all grown in now, and when they're lush, they're very fair and mostly true. Some fairways are better than others, but they're all in pretty good shape. The rough is well-maintained, as are the bunkers. The tee boxes are in really poor shape though - most are in need of sod, and almost all of them are uneven; nothing like hitting a tee shot with the ball significantly below your feet.
Having said that, the course can be very, very fun to play - it really is in great shape considering how many duffers populate it every day. It's this volume of players that gives Forrest Crossing it's biggest problem, however: pace of play. If you tee off anytime between 8:00-2:30 on a weekend, expect to spend every bit of 4.5-5 hours on the course (weekdays are a little better, but the 3:00 $10/deal means there are TONS of Players Club members, so it really slows down in the afternoon). I've played the course more than 50 times and never seen a marshall do anything to "encourage" slower players, but often times there isn't anything a marshall could do - the clubhouse sends groups out every five minutes or so, so there are always groups stacked on top of each other. When you're offering a deal like the Players Club, I guess you have to maximize volume to makeup for the lower green fees.
Bottom line: the Players Club is a great deal if you're looking to maximize course time and minimize damage to your bank account. If you have the luxury of playing weekday mornings or very early weekend mornings, Forrest Crossing can be a really fun course to play. Woe unto the duffer who accepts a noon Saturday tee time.
The range is in rough shape too, and the putting green isn't exactly Augusta-esque; having said that, there are a ton of stalls to warm up in, and the putting green is significantly large enough to accommodate both pitches and putts; there are also two dedicated chipping greens and a practice bunker.
Also, I'd be remise if I didn't say "Get the cheeseburger!" It's something I look forward to every time I make the turn
Didn't even finish the game
A group of friends and I went to play this course. They literally had people going every three minutes. One on top of the other. We were fine with this but the issue came from the Marshall driving around on the course. He approached us and informed us we needed to keep pace with the group in front of us (which we were) and suggested splitting off. I shrugged this ordeal off and didn't think to much of it until I noticed him sitting on our fairway in his golf cart watching us. At this point I became agitated and we all know what happens when that occurs and you get rushed playing. After my next hit the Marshall again comes down and asks if we are going to split up. I informed him we were just going to keep rolling with the group we are. I then told him I would not have drove this distance to come and play on a course where I was being rushed and having to split up from my company. This is a leisure thing to enjoy and relax not get aggravated and upset. We finally decided to split up just to see how much quicker we would be. My friend and I took the lead only to play the very next hole (number 7) and sit at the tee off waiting on 3 groups. We eventually joined back up with our friends. We figured the back 9 would be a little less aggravating so decided to finish the game. Needless to say, it was the same exact as the front 9. We were infuriated by hole 11 and decided to just leave. I went to the clubhouse to get my card and while I was up there I informed the front desk of our issues. They shrugged it off as though it was no concern and I was wasting there time. Long story short, I will never go back to this course and hope no one makes the same mistake I did of playing here.
Sorry you had a bad time at this course I haven't played it for sometime and checked the reviews to see how the course is. I appreciate the comments re: slow play as supported by others.
But, is it really fair to rate course conditions as poor because you had a bad experience. I rely on these reviews to decide whether to play some courses and hope they are accurate. No one else rated the course below average and several as good.
Fun Course
Played early and was paired with a two other golfers I did not know. Both were exceptionally friendly and outgoing. Course was in good shape and the pace moved pretty well until we reached the back nine where there was a short back-up. Amenities included lunch with the round and that was appreciated. Not overly difficult so I had a fun experience here.
Greens are never good even when they are good
Don't believe anyone when they say the greens are good here. I have been here several times over the last few years. I keep coming back due to convenience and that's about it. I've seen the greens with grass on them one time. They are usually bare and sandy. Ball bounces like a basketball on these greens.
A moderate challenge but conditions are less than ideal
The course offers a moderate challenge especially from the back tees but i found the overall design to be somewhat plain. In addition the tee boxes and greens were not well tended -The holes and tee markers had not been moved in a while. The holes were getting overgrown and there were broken tees all over the boxes. The dormant bermuda greens , while rolling well , had dollar spots and were not painted green for the winter. Also one must ride as walking is only permitted after 1pm. The 19th hole offers beer and sandwiches and has friendly staff
Best Bang For Your Buck
Staff was very friendly. The ranger actually did his job by keeping the pace of play on par. The course was challenging but not so challenging where ametures couldn't play and have fun. Hard to believe the greens were in such great shape this time of the year.
Great Value
Great value for around $25-$30. Pace of play can be really slow at times when its during busy season. Very consistent in their course conditions and they provide you lunch if you book before 12PM which adds to overall value. Twice my cart has almost lost battery but not a big deal. Rangers could get more involved with the pace of play. Good course overall. Nothing really better in the area.
Quick 9
I was able to get a quick nine in around 2:00. The staff was extremely patient as I was running late and had to move my tee time back. The greens were really good with a fast pace. I joined another player and was able to play nine holes in an hour and 15 minutes. Wow! Easy to find and worth the price. I will go back when I'm in the area. Rick W.
Call before hand
There was an outing the day we played (Sunday), that consisted of many non golfers. The starter ensured us that the outing would not impeded our pace of play. It did, and staff had nothing to say when asked about it.

great course with island green on #9 . very challenging if you don't pay attention, if you do you can make par or birdie lots. Greens fantastic .
"Unlimited range balls" are NOT included, members of the general public are given a small bucket of balls for free after paying for their tee time
