Franklin Bridge Golf Club
About
Franklin Bridge Golf Club (formerly known as The Crossing GC) runs alongside the Harpeth River, which borders 15 of the course's 18 holes. Opened in 1970, the course has a classic layout that will appeal to a wide range of skill levels. Some of the holes definitely present a formidable test, the 16th and 18th for example, which have been hailed by local media as two of the best and most challenging holes in the state, but it is the par-4 ninth with its island green that is the course's signature hole. Although the layout offers a fair challenge, there is also some room for error that makes it more approachable for beginners. In addition to the course, Franklin Bridge Golf Club boasts an 8-acre driving range as well as chipping and putting greens equipped with a practice sand bunker.

Decent for 25 bucks
New to the Nashville area and come across this place on golf now for $28 so I booked it becuase who wouldn't looking at the only picture they have online. Once I arrived I had to wait to hit a bucket of balls because the range was packed. The grass on the course was already starting to dry up / burn up. The greens were the best part of the course. Yet they were pretty bumpy in spots but in other spots the ball rolled true. The fairways were pretty dead. The ball rolled out way to much and would often exit the "fairway". The lay out of the course was awesome. I just wished the course had some more moisture in it. Over all knowing the course a little now I would possibly consider playing it again but for no more then 25 bucks.
fcgc
Course is still in rough shape from winter flooding. Greens rolled true but very slow. Fairways in poor shape. It's standard. By summer I'm sure the course will be back in good shape
Giving up on this course
I have played here many times and there seems to always be an issue with pace of play. Rangers are out there but not doing anything to help move along play. Also booking way to close. It was our tee time and we had to wait to tee off because someone was still in the middle of the fairway, needless to say this continued all day. I had to stop after 9 on a weekday starting at 1:45 because it took 3 hours to play 9. I don't usually have 6 hours to play golf on a weekday.
Great holes/bad shape
For a local course this will always be a great play. The conditions however are horrible. Several of the wholes near the river have silt covering the fairways. The tee boxes are always tough and not well kept. However, the greens were incredible and this course has some really good holes that challenge every golfer. It's just the turf is never good here. No matter the time of year.
A cow pasture has more grass
I have tried to give this place numerous chances each year. I grew up 15 minutes away and would say I have played this course in excess of 75+ times. They make sure they have full foursomes and stack them every EIGHT MINUTES!!!..don't believe me? look at the tee time intervals on Golfnow. I told the ranger there is a reason that professional golfers go off in twosomes every 10 minutes...BECAUSE THAT'S HOW LONG IT TAKES THEM TO PLAY TO KEEP THE TRAFFIC MOVING. 4 dudes who are 25 handicaps every 8 minutes clearly states they only care about making money and not promoting the game. Not complaining about the water on the course because it has rained quite a bit lately....with that being said..the course is in absolute terrible shape. 90% of the fairways are mud and tree branches..sorry i cant explain but I have pictures. The fringes around the greens are HARDPAN. This is how the course always is since they basically don't water past the end of May. THIS ROUND TOOK US 6 HOURS!! AND EVERYONE IN MY GROUP IS SUB 10 HANDICAP!!! If they spent as much time working on their course as they did my turkey/swiss I had for lunch it would be a miracle. BTW she made my sandwich in 5 minutes.
Have Always Enjoyed This Course
Always a fun layout to play. Rain and wet conditions affect this course but I always feel it drains well enough with the Burmuda Grass. Greens are always good to putt on.
Pace of play
Forrest crossing has got to do a better job of monitoring pace of play. Winter afternoon, nice weather but no need for a 5 hour round.
Challenging and a great, relaxing time.
Nice layout. The greens were fast and the pins were dastardly. The winter sun angle wasn't helping either. If you can zero in on yardages, you can score. (I can't.)It is a fun course.
stock yard
They stack you up like cattle headed for the slaughter house. Similar to the design of the course. Could be a beautiful 14 hole layout but they decided to squeeze 4 more in there.
Great shape for January
The course was in as good a shape as could be expected for January. It was actually in better shape than the last time I played here in July. The greens were in good shape, rolling true and moderately fast. A good value for $30-40.
One of best public course.
It is worth it!!
Try it.
Staff are very nice and kind too.
Free practice range with ball was great too.
awesome
Excellent staff. Friendly, the nicest I have spoke with at any Nashville area gc.
Food layout
The over all course is good , not a big fan of the greens.
Overall good
Overall everything was as good as should be expected for the price. Loved the greens, putted very true and consistent. Disappointed to find out that I actually would have saved money playing at the regular Senior rate VS the Golf Now rate with the added fees. I plan to play there again soon, but will call direct and play for the regular Senior rate. Pace of play was slower than average, but about as expected for a good public course in a heavily populated area for a reasonable price.
very good value.
I played on a Saturday afternoon, so the pace of play was a bit slow. Otherwise it was an excellent course. Greens are a bit soft and slow. I will definitely play there again when I am in town.
Course is in good shape
Course has recovered from the winter kill. Greens are in great shape.
Travelers
The ninth and eighteenth holes are very difficult. The 9th is a short layup to a green surrounded by water and the 18th a par 5 with a severe dogleg right than back left . It was very difficult to determine where the fairway was and where to hit to make a forced carry over water on tee shot and second shot, especially with the poor condition of the fairways.
Tough winter was obvious
Course is coming around. There were bare places and dead fish everywhere in one of the ponds. The smell was horrible on 11. For the value it was great the greens were in good shape. It will be back to a real nice course by next year.
The course is challenging
Placement is key on a majority of the holes fun course pace of play could be a little faster.
Winter was rough on this course.
I may play there again, but not this season. Has the makings of a great course, but greens were rough and fairways patchy. Could rebound nicely and I hope it does! The rate isn't bad in the meantime.
