Great setting Photo submitted by covers05 on 04/14/2013
The staff was outstanding and very helpful. However, the greens were below average, and the pace of play was interrupted by college kids playing slowly and driving on the greens. I do not believe this course is worthy be included on the Audubon Golf Trail.
Fantastic Links Style Course!!!
So in reading the most recent reviews it appears to me that some of these people dont take into account the huge flood that was experienced in this area, nor do they understand winter conditions on golf courses. I spoke with the GM and he explained to me that they are redoing the entire club house and cart barn so it is definitely not a downhill decline as someone said. I play all over the area, and the 6/6/6 hole layout at Copper Mill is hands down my favorite to play. You can really score out here, or if your hitting it bad you can put up a big number. Overall course is beautiful, and would absolutely recommend giving it a go if you haven't.
disappointing to a degree
club was short on carts; had to wait 40 mins for a cart. the bar doubles as the pro shop now. bad, bad idea... most greens were in bad shape but a nice roll otherwise on the better greens. round was shortened by rain but we would've finished and been on our way home had a cart been available on time. Several foursomes had multiple singles in carts in the same group. dress code wasn't enforced; jeans and non-collared shirts on the course. the place is going downhill. I have vendors visiting next month and will consider another course.
Bunkers constantly neglected
The course and greens are in great shape, however if you find yourself in a bunker, you either get lucky and end up with an expected bunker lie, or in a severely neglected area where the groundskeeper simply ignored.
Challenging course
This is a challenging course for all skill levels. The fairways and greens are both in good condition. The sand traps are in need of more sand as they are rock hard and some don't drain very well. If you hit in a trap, good luck. Even the best sand trap players will have difficulty making a save shot. As a long ball hitter, even at age 57, I prefer to play the Black Tees. (I feel like I'm cheating playing the Senior Tees). I could easily shave 5-6 more shots off my handicap. My overall rating of this course is 7 out of 10. I'd given it a higher number if it wasn't for the "Beware of Snakes" sign on Hole 7 and actually seeing a snake slither across the side of the green before my approach shot. The sand traps need much attention. I'll still be going back as its only 2 miles from my home.
Glad it was free.
I played this course on a whim because I had a comp from golfnow.com. From the reviews I read I expected a more well kept course. It was decent but I won't be returning.
Shoveling people for $$$
It took us over 5 hours to play 18. In my opinion that is ridiculous. They let a group of 3 that we're horrible start on #10 as we were making the turn. I would much rather pay $60 to play at a respectable course than $50 and deal with slow play. Not a single ranger on the course. I also wanted to buy a hat after my extremely slow round and the cashier was unable to ring up the merchandise. The place has great potential....let me know when it has improved!
Pretty Decent
I enjoy the course at Copper Mill, but the pace of play this day was difficult to accept. took me 4.5 hrs playing alone. Lots of 3 and 4 somes farting around. Fairly common though, so to be expected on a nice weather day I suppose.
Overall, Copper Mill is decent. A fair challenge and when its dry a pretty good course for the money.
Fun Friday
Enjoyed pretty day and dry conditions on nice course. Please add a driving range to complete the package.
Thanks for playing Copper Mill recently, we are excited to see that you enjoyed your round. We will hope to see you back out, teeing it up again soon!
Very Good Course

Great place to play and very affordable!
The course is being kept up nicely! Greens are in much better shape than last year. I enjoy playing Coppermill always fun!

great day
My two buddies and I had a great day playing here. The course was in really nice shape. The greens were excellent. I can't comment on the staff or club house, because we left right after playing. BUT TRUST ME, WE WILL BE BACK!
Thanks for playing here at CMGC recently, and thank you for taking the time to let others know about your experience! I was really glad to hear that you enjoyed your day at the club.
I was also glad to see that you plan on coming back! Maybe next time you get a chance to come out you can hit up our grill after the round. The Burgers and Wings are really good!
Awesome course
I never played Copper Mill before, I was in town for business and had some time off. I wanted to find a golf course with good value.
I could not have been happier after playing Copper Mill. It's a relatively new course but the greens and fairways were in great shape. Lots of holes with water in play and provides scenic layouts. Fairly challenging but definitely some birdie holes out there.
Only downside is there is no range but it sounds like they're going to build one in the near future.
Not knowing what to expect on my way to the course, I was very pleased driving off after 18 knowing I got my money's worth plus some.
Would go back ten out of ten times, hit em straight.
Thank you for playing here at Copper Mill, I was really glad to see that you enjoyed your day at the club. I was also happy that you thought we offered good value!
We are still working on how to address the unusual issue that popped up this year with the driving range, and hopefully a more permanent solution can be found at some point. Until then, we will continue to utilize the Birdie Ball warm up area.
Again, thank you for playing here at The Mill! We will hope to see you on your next trip into the Capital Area!
Good
Very nice for the price and they always have discounts online.
Thanks for playing here at CMGC! We are glad you enjoyed your round, and thought that we offered a good value.
We will hope to see you back out teeing it up again soon!
Close to Baton Rouge
A great course close to Baton Rouge. The greens were in great condition. Look forward to playing this course again

Copper Mill
It's a $15 course. The guy cutting greens in front of me was leaving the areas on the edge of the greens uncut and cut grass was in clumps on the greens. Workers on the course we're riding around using their cell phones with ear phones and not realizing I was waiting to hit. Fairways were the best part of the course. The waste areas need serious attention. Nothing but an eyesore.
Thanks for playing here at CMGC, and thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience.
In terms of the cutting of the greens, every golf course periodically skips the outside pass when mowing. This is usually done once a week or so to cut down on stressing the grass in some of the sharper/tighter turns that you would find on the edge of the greens. Unfortunately you played on the day we chose to utilize this common maintenance practice.
As far as the native areas go, yes, unfortunately many of them have become overgrown over the years. We are working on trying to thin some of those areas out and reclaim more of the native grass that originally was planted in those beds. This is a project, and will take quite some time to completely. Most of the areas are not immediately in play, and while they look pretty rough, they should not effect scoring for the most part.
Again, thank you for playing, and sharing your thoughts with us. It is through feedback from our guests that we can learn how to improve the golf experience here at The Mill.
Much improved
I was very impressed with the vast improvement to the course condition compared to the first part of this year. The greens are in 100% better condition. Fairways and tee boxes are much improved. The bunker issues are starting to be addressed also. The management team has definitely turned the corner on the course condition and has it going in the right direction.
Thank you for playing here at Copper Mill, and thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience! I am glad that you enjoyed your day of golf. Our staff has been working hard to get the course back in shape and we are excited about the improvements we have seen over the past few weeks.
We will hope to see you back out here at The Mill, teeing it up again soon.
It's been a while ...
But I'm glad I decided to play here again. The course was in beautiful shape, the entire course was well manicured. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Thank you for playing with us recently, and thank you for taking time to let us know about your experience! The course is really coming along, and we are excited for the fall golf season.
Hopefully we will see you back out at The Mill, teeing it up again soon!
Should've read reviews first
Thought I got an amazing price at $19 with cart included, I was wrong. If I'd paid more, I would be upset. First off, they advertise a driving range, nope. They USED to have one before the previous owner had to sell the course. Now I assume it's been designated for more housing. Bunkers were in awful shape, tee boxes too. The greens were terrible, I watched the ball bounce on several putts. Also, they were inconsistant, one would play super slow the next super fast, that got to be frustrating. Another thing that was abysmal, goose dropping all over the back 9 fairways and greens... This course had a good rep until the owner sold out, to the homeowners (I think?). This place has potential, but it's just not there anymore. Anyways, not a complete waste for $19, but I won't go back.
First let me say thank you for playing with us recently, I am sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations.
In terms of the golf course, we have had many challenges here this year, some are weather related, some our still trying to overcome deferred maintenance from prior ownership. The greens have come a long way since the earlier part of the season, when they were struggling due to algae issues, caused by the unusual amount of rain that the region received this spring. We have been very patient with them, as we are more concerned with overall health than speed at the moment. We aerified last week, and we believe that as the greens heal up and return to normal, the speeds will become more consistent.
The maintenance staff has begun to address the sand trap issue this week. Why a whole scale renovation is not on the table, we are adding sand and working on the bunkers that come into play the most. The goal is to make them more playable, and more consistent.
As for the goose issue, they are federally protected migratory birds that unfortunately have taken up residence on our course. We have reached out to both state and federal officials, and have been instructed that we can only harass the geese. Unfortunately that has not quite done the trick, in terms of getting rid of them.
Finally, I apologize for the misrepresentation of the driving range on Golfnow. We lost the driving range at the moment, as the former owner of the club is trying to develop the property. While the issue remains unresolved, we have a small warm up area that utilizes Birdie Balls. This is certainly not the best solution to a rather unique issue, but until the issue is fully resolved, this is the temporary measures that we have been forced to deal with. I have also reached out to Golfnow and updated them on our current amenities.
Again, thank you for taking the time to express your view. I hope that as we continue to move the golf course forward, you will give us another shot to not only meet, but exceed your expectations.
Mystic Creek Experience Stay & Play Package
Thanks for playing here at CMGC last weekend, I was glad to see that you enjoyed your day of golf with us.
I know we were pretty busy Sunday afternoon, and as a single it was probably a bit slow and somewhat frustrating, so for that I apologize. The nice weather brought a bunch of folks out in the afternoon and we were pretty busy.
Thanks again for your feedback. We will hope to see you back teeing it up again soon, here at The Mill!
