Fantastic experience
This course was built as a country club in the late 1970's. I was the 48th member and eventually moved away from the Memphis area.
When I left, the course was a nice track, but several changes in ownership ruined this course.
I live in southern California now and play at least 5 times per week besides being on staff at a course there.
I was in Memphis visiting my daughter and decided to take a walk down memory lane.
What a fantastic ride it was..
First of all the staff was fantastic, better than my own staff in California.
The fairways rivaled anything I played on in Southern California.
The greens were awesome.
They were fast but held anything I threw at them.
The rough was rough.tough stuff.
The layout of the track itself changed somewhat but the integrity of the original architect remained intact.
I played 5 different courses during this trip to Memphis and Stonebridge was the best by a longshot.
I played from the tips one day, the blues the next and the white tees the following day.
No matter where I played from,, the course was fun.
The course was in immaculate condition and if you missed a fairway, you were penalized.
The electric carts' GPS were the same as the Ojai Valley Inn in Ojai, Ca.a high end resort.
The tress and views on this course were better than anything I played in Memphis.
If you are a guest in Memphis, do yourself a favor and play this course.
It looks like whoever owns this course is really doing a great job.
Most of all you will be appreciated and you will have fun.
I am a 66 year old 6 handicapper, golf addict and this was one of the best tracks I've played in the U.S.
Too bad it was part of a real estate development and located in Memphis, as this is definitely a "too good to be true" golf course for this market.
If this course was in LA or San Diego, the public would never see it except on TV.
Pick your tees carefully for the most fun and leave your ego at the door and you will enjoy your round.
The wrong set of tees will cost you.
Good Deal
Have played and enjoyed before. The course is in very good condition. Pace of play was slow, no marshal.
Stonebridge
Leave your driver in your car. Long drives only penalize you. From one tee box up, most holes require only a 4-5 iron. This isn't bad if that is your style. I like to use all my club myself.
Hacker
The course was in good shape and I enjoyed my outing.
Awesome
Very nice course, better stay in fairway though, if you get out of just a little, good luck finding your ball, the grass is about 2" deep and your ball sinks to the bottom. You can't see it unless you're right on top of it! Beautiful, fun course though!!
Perfect for me
I am a high handicap player and this course was the perfect challenge for me. I can't wait to play here again. The staff was great. And the conditions were fun.
Great course, great value
I really like this course. Just enough challenge without being frustrating. If you haven't played this course, you're missing out. Thanks for a great experience Stonebridge!
Stay out of the rough
Course was very nice and we had an excellent time.
Summer Round in July
Played the course midday and got thru 18 holes in 2-1/2 hours. Course was in great shape. This course is always a test for driving the ball into the correct spots. Greens roll smooth.
Hot! Hot! Hot!
Played on a hot Sunday in July and the course was in great shape. The greens have filled in and were rolling great. Everyone is friendly and it is a fun course to play.
Nice Course
Course was in good shape. Greens were fast and rolling well. My only minor complaint was that the rough was thick, and there were a lot of dead grass clippings piled up. It was tough to find a ball, even just a few feet off the fairway as it could have been sitting down and covered by a pile of clippings. I don't mind the rough (that's why we're supposed to hit it in the fairway!!!), but it could make pace of play pretty awful on a busy day. In our case, it wasn't too busy, but we did spend quite a bit of time just looking for balls that weren't more than a club-length or two off the fairway.
Overall, good round and I definitely recommend the course. The greens in particular were a highlight for me. Smooth and fast.
Good course
This is a challenging course with nice tee box and fairways. It was well manicured. The only complaint when I played was the greens were really fast due to be rolled and sanded. Would have like the greens to have been in proper shape when I played as I'm sure they usually are. Also the driving range was closed. Other than that great course!
Nice, challenging layout
Course tests all aspects of your game. Even though a couple inches of rain had occurred in the last 24 hours, the course remained quite playable. Enjoyed the round. Will go back.
Excellent condition, value for the money
Very friendly staff, excellent course design and in excellent condition. Very hot weather, but ample water kegs at most holes.
pretty good option in memphis
I had to rate poor the pace of play but maybe it was due to a tournament played at the same time. It took 3 hours on the front nine. Apart of this, the course is pretty and well kept. I'll go back
Bad Experience
This was my first time playing at this course and the play was terrible. It took my partner and I 3 hours to play 5 holes. I called the front desk about the problem and they came out but nothing changed. We got fed up with the pace of play and left after the 5 holes. Wasted my money and time at this course. Will never play it again. Peace
The Greens just cut and sanded so they were not true.
The course was ok might be a few more weeks till its in good shape.
First Round in the State of TN
First round in TN for 2 of us. One of the first 3 groups off early AM and quick pace of play. Never waiting or rushed by any groups. Course in good shape. Gentleman in the pro shop was very friendly and helpful as it was our first time on the course, unfortunately did not catch his name. We did not eat here so we cannot comment on that. Very close to our new house, we will be back again!
A challenge for sure
I love the challenge of the greens. I will come back just to conquer there greens and staff were very helpful.
