Haystack Mountain Golf Course

Easily the worst 9 hole ive played in my life. The fairways are dead, the greens arent taken care of, the tee boxes arent level and can sometimes just be only dirt, and the pace of play is abysmal. I can not wait for this place to close so I can get my friends to play on a golf course that is actually taken care of. The staffs nice though.

Got in to play Haystack Mountain and had a good time. It was sad to learn that the course would close for good in August and the land turned into housing development.

Course was actually closed and no emails to let us know. Figure with a prepaid tee time no excuse for not sending out an email or maybe they shouldn't have offered a tee time in the first place!

Fun course for a beginner. Only par 4’s and par 3’s. Nice scenery as well.

Course is good and does the job, plus the staff are very friendly! It is definitely worth a visit!

This course has been open since the 1960's, it will unfortunately shut down in September. It will close so that Rich people can develop the land into residential lots...epic views and laid back vibe is one of a kind! Play it while you can!

Upon arrival I was told it was too late to finish an executive nine - fine. Paid to hit balls (after already paying for a round) while watching multiple groups proceed to tee off after being told it was “too late.”

Driving up to the course was interesting. Dirt road through what feels like cottages until you arrive at a squat brick farmhouse. The inside is rustic, and the staff are great. With your round you get either a free range bucket or a push cart. The driving range is great. Well marked yardage and youre hitting from grass. The putting area is weird. Then you see the greens on the course and it makes sense. Theres basically nine pooltables out there, tiny, and about 1/3 are in rather terrible condition. One clearly had a tractor driven over it. Probably while cutting the grass. Adds to the challenge of the course? Not crazy wide fairways, theyre well maintained, though a bit long and sloggy for my taste. It was a nice stroll through a nice EXTREMELY cheap. Had one of my best rounds actually. Ill be play this course often.

The course is odd. The layout doesn’t flow. It’s hard to know where the next tee box is at times. The fairways are long grass. More like the first cut of rough on a bigger course. The greens are in rough shape. Some weeds on the greens and apparently the regulars don’t know how to fix a ball mark. I could’ve spent half an hour on each hole just fixing ball marks. The tee boxes are uneven and beat up. I played a single and wasn’t asked to play through once even though it would’ve made things move a lot faster for everyone. I guess I should complain for 15 bucks for nine holes though.

Definitely not the best course. You have to wait in line for the 1st tee since they don’t do reservations. The course is poorly maintained with dead spots throughout. Worst greens I’ve ever seen. There is no fairways. Just shorter rough. However....! It was a very pretty course. Lots of trees and streams and ponds. Not an overly difficult course but with the course conditions, it makes it harder.
