Llano River Golf Course
About
Llano River Golf Course has the wonderful distinction of being laid out along the scenic Llano River, with beautiful views and great golf. This course should be a must-play anytime you’re touring through the immediate area.
In addition to the scenery, the most memorable feature of this course is the tiny, postage-stamp-sized greens that require pinpoint accuracy and a solid short game for pars. In fact, these well-manicured greens compare favorably to the tricky burial mound greens of Alpine and Marfa, and are surely some of the smallest targets in the state.
Mature trees line the fairways, and water hazards come into play on only three holes.
The best birdie opportunity is the short, par 5 13th hole, playing only 437 yards. Good golfers can get there in two and give it a roll at an eagle putt. The ender is talked about as the signature, a difficult 502-yard par 5 with out-of-bounds along the left as well as behind the green.
Getting there : In Llano turn left on the north side of the courthouse and head out to the course.

fairways and greens in great shape some t-boxes need work
Really enjoyable Hill Country Course
Greens are outstanding - staff very cordial - layout is excellent - pace of play is stellar - no water on the course so take plenty during summer months - fun fun course to play. Highly recommend.
Great Little Course!!!
This course along the Llano river was in great shape and was very fun to play. I'm a mid 80 golfer and enjoyed the layout as it allowed a mixture of short and mid range approach shots to some of the best greens I have played in awhile. It is a long drive from Austin but I envision going back with the family to make a lake & golf day soon. There is a RV park close by so I will be checking into that aspect next.
Great course
Greens were best in the area that I have played. Staff was friendly and very enjoyable to play
Bang for the buck
For the price, this is a great course. It does have its flaws, but I've spent way more on way worse courses.
Llano River
this is a great value, an old layout that could use some improvements on the thin grassed fairways, but the greens are in very good condition. Back nine is the more scenic of the two sides for sure.
Hidden gem
Nice course. Fun with a little challenge. Front 9 flat down and back type lay out. Wide open, few trees. Back is completely different. Rolling hills, trees more challenging. My one criticism is the layout is confusing at times. A map on the score card would be helpful. Otherwise it is worth the drive and cost.
Interesting layout - Poor conditions
The course was in rough shape other than the greens. Greens were in good condition. Cart paths are dirt-rock for most part and some go right down fairway. Front nine layout is confusing and dangerous with fairways very close to one another. Back nine has some interesting holes.
Great course
The course is laid out along the Llano river, with pretty open fairways. It offers several challenges or obstacles with every hole having large peacan and oak trees to navigate around. Around the greens has it's own challenges with what used to be bunkers that have been turned into added strokes when you find them. Highly recommend
