Carter Plantation

Positives: nice range, the putting area and short game (chip, pitch, bunkers) are across street from range by 10th tee box. Great course layout, enough tee boxes with forced carries to challenge all handicap levels. Fairways undulate so be prepared for angle lies on some second shots. Rough present but not too penal. Trees throughout line most fairways and offer shade and shadows and shot shaping. Some fairway bunkers present to offer aim points and catching. Very nice greens, consistent hole to hole.

Others: There are several fairway bunkers growing in, most likely due to speeding up play or maintenance or both. If those bunkers were sand instead of grass the course rating would be higher. There are many divots in all fairways and the par 3 tee boxes are riddled with them. There’s no sand boxes on any par 3 tee box. There’s two types of sand one has rocks and small pebbles. Bad enough to damage clubs. The other closer to some greens is dense soft sand.

The check in attendant was lackadaisical and seemed bothered I asked him where the first tee was and where could I short game warm up.

Carts are poorly maintained. Not all carts have GPS, not all GPS works. I went through three carts before starting round, the first was filthy had empty wrappers, bags of chips, garbage in it. Pointed out to cart boy who could’ve cared less. Was told to change carts by a volunteer worker to a cart with GPS but it didn’t work. Only one cart had a bottle of sand. The rest were empty.

The starter was clueless to basic questions. I asked what was the pin placement for the day. Don’t know. I asked him what the different flag colors meant, didn’t know just said, “I think some are yellow and that one looks like a red one”. Any basic question you’d think a starter should know about course layout or anything that guy didn’t know.

The only staff member that was personable with any energy that seemed to know their job was the cart lady.

I’ve golfed all over the world this place has the beginning of course that’ll have future reviews of how nice it used to be. Small things add up the easiest thing to fix is customer service and training.

Range balls not available. Again. The kids in the pro shop need to work harder to be professional. They’re friendly, but don’t have that extra effort you should receive for the Carter green fee

Awesome layout and clubhouse, but terrible tee boxes and fairways. Greens were mediocre

Carter Plantation was in great shape especially given that there has been very very little rain over the last two months and it has been extremely hot. Given that the only down side was that the greens still showed signs of being punched.

Everything was great except pace of play, guys waiting for groups ahead to leave the greens on par 4s and 5s then top it 10 yards of the tee, taking 20 something minutes to play a hole and not letting others play through

Greens were excellent. Cart Path Only was an issue. Course condition was average and needs to be better. Range closed .

Greens rolling fast. Fairways very nice. Cart girl passed at least 3 times during the round. Only small knock was bunkers were flat from rain day before. Will be back for sure.

Greens , coarse , staff everyone even the weather was perfect.

Well established course that winds through housing area.. Clubhouse, dining, driving range, putting green, chipping green with practice bunker. Course is well marked and cart paths in good shape. Multiple tees to accommodate age, gender, and handicap level. Fairway bunkers are good sand and cared for. Some of the greenside bunkers are 5-6 ft deep and present a good challenge. The fairways are in good shape and the rough is pretty forgiving. The greens are firm and quick and run true. There is water that comes into play on about half the holes. Nice course to play and price is reasonable. I'll be back next time I come through here.
