The Bluffs on Thompson Creek
About
The Bluffs on Thompson Creek enjoys a beautiful setting tucked away amid mature hardwood forests. Creeks freely meander throughout the golf course, interconnecting with the sparkling ponds that can be found throughout. The layout is an Arnold Palmer design that takes advantage of the hills, bluffs, and hollows of the varied landscape. You face uneven lies and a few blind shots thanks to the terrain but you'll also get scenic views of the surrounding area. Accuracy is important to have but it's not an overly punishing layout if you happen to be errant. The golf course has a challenging start with an uphill par 3 as the opening hole. Another memorable hole is the par-3 eighth, which features a 50-foot drop to the fairway below. It's both an intimidating and beautiful hole.

Greens
Course is challenging but fair. However today the greens were horrible. Big burnt sand spots, slow and bumpy.
stay in the fairway
This place is beautiful. The club house is huge. The fairways are absolutely flawless. The comments below don't lie, a few of these greens like #4 and 3 more on the back have 3 or 4 spots where the grass is gone and they had to sand over it. I'm not sure what happened to them, they may have just caught some disease that killed those spots. Besides those 4, the rest of the greens are just fine. If you stay in the fairway, you'll be fine. If you don't, the trees will not give you a shot at the green. Until those greens are fixed, I probably won't drive 50 min. to play here.
Great layout but poor greens and bunkers.
Greens were once again in poor shape - played earlier in the summer. Very "spongy" and slow. The did sand the greens but again, very slow. Hole #3 green is just about a total loss - dirt and sand. Gorgous layout but the greens and bunkers (hard, filled with water and not raked) are not in good shape.
The course has great views...liked the lay-out
Several greens (5 or 6) were in poor shape but I love the serenity and scenery
Greens are in terrible shape
Great layout beautiful views but the greens are in really bad shape. Mid Am scheduled to play here inAugust if the greens are not any better by then LGA should move it somewhere else.
Very Nice Course but Greens were horrible
First time playing this course. Read some reviews beforehand about the greens being bad, Played it anyways. Greens were horrible. Apparently there was a cold spell that hurt the greens.
Overall the course is very nice, great layout.
Also I wish courses would tell you about the greens when you get to the pro shop so you know what to expect.
I would not play this course again until the greens are better or they give you a discount on play.
I played Wolf Creek couple months ago and when we arrived they gave us a $25 merchandise gift card because one of the greens was in bad shape. More courses should do this when they are having problems with the course. Does not have to be $25 but just let us know.
Love the course.
Something happened to the greens since we played 3 weeks ago. They are in terrible shape now. 3 weeks ago they were great.
Nice course. Pretty scenery.
Had a good time playing this course. Well maintained and friendly staff.
Greens are in great shape!
The course is challenging but not overly difficult. It has many scenic holes as well.
A well kept secret that's not too secret
This golf course is difficult to find north of Baton Rouge. However, it is worth the hunt. This is a great course especially for the more experienced player. It offers a great challenge of holes and for a price that's not too bad. It is cheaper than going to play TPC. Definitely worth a play.
Course was in great shape.
Green grass everywhere. Staff very friendly. Greens were a little slow for me.
Great layout
The course is cut along the hillside and has some great views. It is a challenging course that will test your game but is not so difficult that you can't enjoy it.
Beautiful surroundings. Fairways and greens in great shape.
The course was in very good condition. I played two days after a lot of rain so most of the fairways were a little soggy. But other than that, the greens were great and sped up throughout the day. I booked this for 26% off which is $40/player(weekday). If the course was more dry and the weather wasn't cold it would have been worth the regular weekend rate of $72/player. The course surroundings are beautiful and I took quite a few pictures. The first whole is the tougest on the course going up hill(par4). The signature hole is the par 3 8th. A 50 ft. drop about 200 yds. Plus it's a beautifull sight. The areas around the greens were well kept and made it more convenient for chipping. The squirrels around the course were huge and we also saw a few deer. I had a great time and I can't wait to go back.
enjoyed course was in good condition for winter
Perfect day for golf I really had a great day , pace was good people were nice.
Nice layout
Nice layout, but played after a week of rain. Course was very soggy. Very freiendly staff had the course to myself and played in under 3 hours playing two balls.
excellent very fast greens
Staff was very friendly. Course was in very good shape. Had played several times before, but not recently. Speed of greens made it a little too difficult.
Always a treat to play
The Bluffs is a beautifully laid out course with many challenges for every level golfer. The landscape and scenery are fabulous attributes. The course is very well maintained and the experience is always very satisfying, no matter what I score.
