Grey Rock Golf Club

First tee is about a mile away from the club house. The signage around the course is not very good especially if you’ve never played there before. For some reason the course was cartpath only that day and the pace of play suffered because of that.

It is cart path only for the entire course. They don't have water and the course is very dry. They don't tell you this when booking. They need rain and I will not be going back anytime soon. I do like the course but hard conditions playing on rock hard surfaces.

I love this course. The greens are pure and extremely fast. The fairways are well maintained, the trees are manicured, the obstacles feel reasonably challenging. The layout feels consistent throughout and varied in interesting ways. Even details down to the location of the putting and chipping facilities with easy parking lot access is great. Amazing course. Reasonably priced especially if you grab a hot deal. I played here yesterday, Thursday, February 26 at 12:50pm with great weather for $67 a person with cart, free range balls to warm up, and a cart stocked with a GPS screen and 4 wooden tees. There are courses in the area that charge more for a far worse experience. Superintendent had us on cart path only because he is borderline neurotic about course conditions. I say that as a great compliment.

Played while visiting my son. He said it’s the best municipal he’s played and I was impressed. Great layout and almost all the holes are interesting to play and moderately difficult. Greens fast and true, fairways, tee boxes and bunkers in good condition. Staff very friendly and we had a cart and practice balls included. Would definitely recommend.

I was very pleased with the course. Given the fact the fairways were dormant, it still played well. The greens were in great shape. They rolled very consistently and true. It is definitely a course I would recommend. It was fun to get out and swing the clubs after facing a Minnesota winter the past 3 1/2 months. I enjoyed playing with a couple of the members. They were extremely friendly and fun to play with.

Entire course is in great shape from tee boxes to fairway to greens. Highly recommended!

Was in Austin for business and had an opportunity to play this course. Was paired up with a really nice local couple who provided lots of feedback on course layout etc. which was helpful. Course in excellent condition overall with fairways and greens in good shape (a few of the fairways did have some damage but my playing partner said it was due to armadillos!).

We were started on the back, which I never like (but that's just me) but once I settled in I really enjoyed the round. I played from the blue tees and found the course challenging but fair. As a fader of the ball I enjoyed the dogleg rights and even the dogleg lefts provided me with opportunity to go over the trees!

The staff were super friendly, from pro shop to starter to staff in the restaurant. And my post round lunch was really tasty, got a nice grilled chicken sandwich and my request for a wrap vs a bun was happily accommodated.

All in all this was a wonderful experience and I look forward to playing here again on my next visit to Austin.

Where to park was confusing. Not sure to bring clubs with or park then bring cart out. It was a good overall experience. It was a family feeling place with all ages on the driving range. Like most munis, it looks like they either need a bigger budget or more people who care more. TLC would go a long way in the surrounds of clubhouse.

We joined up with a lady for the back 9 who was a member and she enhanced the day in a way we couldn’t put a price tag on!! Thanks Edie!!

I play this course several times a week as a relatively new golfer. It’s clean, green, and better maintained than some of the others in the area, I have no complaints.

Pace this day was a little slower, but that’s not what I find to be the norm. Staff friendly, food is good, and it’s easy to book.

This is an excellent challenging course kept in great condition. I couldn't believe that this is a municipal course. The layout was difficult and I felt myself being tested on almost every hole. Pace of play was incredible, I can't remember the last time I finished a round of golf in 4 hours and in a foursome to boot.

This course is definitely worth playing once in awhile and I'll happily pay the high greens fee to play it.

Really enjoyed playing this course. The whole course is beautiful and is a fun one to play. Will come back for sure!
