Grey Rock Golf Club

I was in from out of town - I had never played here but the course looked nice and had good reviews. Austin had a couple days of heavy rain leading up to the day we played but we played crack of dawn and the weather was very nice. Had first tee time of the day and the pace of play was of course awesome (2.5 hour round for 2some. Despite the rain (Cart path only), the course itself was dry enough....... but........ the greens were terrible. A combination of muddy, bumpy and extremely slow. I know they could not mow the greens that day, but hopefully the greens are normally in better shape. I liked the layout and it is a good course. But the greens were comically bad. I also did not have the best experience renting clubs and some customer service. My "premium" rental club set had I think 11 clubs and no sand wedge. I did get to borrow a sand wedge, but that seems like an essential club. I also asked for a towel (the course was a little wet and muddy) and was told I could buy one. Anyway...I liked the course, would play again, but only if the greens were somewhere well above the 3 they probably were on the stimpmeter the day I played.

Incredible layout and a really fun course. Unfortunately, it’s April and the greens are in the absolute worst shape. Not a single one will roll true or hold. Patches of grass that are a half inch long, super sandy over seeding conditions... wow. If I paid anything over $20 I would have felt scammed.

The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape for this time of year (middle March), but the greens were in awful shape. We got a discounted rate so we didn't feel too bad. Really glad we didn't pay full fare.

Played a fast 18 with one other player on the last day of winter. Tee boxes and fairways in excellent condition. Greens still dormant and very fast, but fair for their present condition.

Off season but the course was in good condition. Pace of play was very fast. Thanks to the staff for honoring our GN tee time even though we were late due to flight delays.

Glad I had a $19 Golf Now deal, or I would have felt severely scammed at the more commonly charged rates of $35-$70! All of the greens are in terrible condition, the fairways have a lot of thin spots, and you can forget about it if you end up on the outer edges of the fairway where you’ll only find bald soil, rocks, sticks and leaves. This place does not resemble a flagship course in any way, Mo Willy and Roy Kyzer are both better options for your money. The young lady in the restaurant/bar had nothing to offer personality wise either, and when I mentioned my frustration wth the condition of the greens to the fellow in the pro shop he turned his back to me without making a comment. Beautiful facilities and grounds won’t make up for any of the many other shortcomings Grayrock is suffering!

It was great, until the started told me I was up next. He told me there was a 4-some two holes ahead, well that was a 5 some, followed by another, followed by 3 more. Ridiculous!

Had a tee time for 11:50, course apparently had a tournament the same day and we didn’t actually tee off until around 12:50. Did not get any notification or heads up for a late start whatsoever. Course was in decent shape yet on many holes the greens had elevated patches of grass.

This was the first time I had played the course and it was a blast, course is in great shape. Very cool atmosphere at the property and clubhouse/surrounding area is beautiful!

Played a 4 hour round in a friendly foursome. Course was in good shape for winter play. Good value for the money this time of year. Will do it again.

Enjoyed course fast greens and also held shots well. Would imagine it would be pure in spring summer excited to get back and play again

The fairways and greens need to grow out a little more. The layout is very good. Good practice area. Would play again once the fairways grow in.

I enjoyed playing this course but it wasn’t in the greatest condition in my opinion. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating however and I would totally recommend it to a friend to play. I would like to see nicer fairways is m biggest complaint.
