Sad to see…, no value other than range balls and the layout
This is supposed to be Austin’s flagship municipal course? They still charge a premium to play here as if, yet between Grey Rock, Lions, Morris Williams, Jimmy Clay and Roy Kizer - Grey Rock is hands down in the worse condition of all! The fairways are dried up and in dire need of attention, but the greens are horrendous with minimal to no grass at all left on the majority of them. Sure, the course layout is good, but there is nothing fare or fun about hitting off of dirt and rock or putting on uneven and unpredictable surfaces..
We played a GolfNow Hot Deal for $27.50 and still felt completely ripped-off!
Very slow
This course is built on a swamp, it needs a bit of work, pace of play was an issue.
Course Badly Damaged by Ice Storm
Grey Rock is typically a nice course to play. However, in this round we were advised upon arrival that only 9 holes were open for play. The greens were in poor condition and very bumpy.
Best value in Austin!
My cousin and I were planning to play at a different course, but after his flight got canceled, I ended up finding Grey Rock Golf course on my golf app and decided to try it. So glad I did! Had a wonderful time playing! The staffperson working in the pro shop was incredibly friendly and personable. The next time I return to Austin, this is where I’m going to play for sure!
Tight fairways, rough tee boxes, not worth the $$$
Course is not worth the price they charge. Tee boxes in rough shape, fairways do have grass but the lies are super tight so you're basically hitting off concrete. Pretty sad the most expensive muni in Austin is in the worst shape. Save your money and go play Willie or Clay which are in great shape and a lot cheaper.
Austin Fun!
Great time! We enjoyed our time visiting friends and wanted to get a game of golf in…perfect time…
Bathrooms not working
Very poor facilities - City of Austin does not maintain its bathrooms in clubhouse. Very sad to spend so much money and no toilets work.
Love the layout
Good use of land, play thru wooded course w well plsced bunkers and grassy moguls.Enjoyable shaping of shots.
