Kino Springs Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2021.
Surrounded by acres of gently rolling hills studded with native mesquite and oak trees, Kino Springs Golf Course has a stunning location along the Santa Cruz River. Savvy birdwatchers know that it's a major flyway where you can see flycatchers, orioles, kingfishers, and grey hawks. The course is part of the historic Estancia Yerba Buena Ranch, which has hosted an impressive guest list over the years that includes John Wayne and Elizabeth Taylor. The golf course is player friendly enough for beginners but it has enough risk-reward opportunities to appeal to low handicappers. The opening holes play across open meadows but by the fifth hole you'll find yourself in canyon country. Mature pine trees frame Kino Springs Golf Course's last five holes but the views from the elevated tees stretch past the treetops to the scenic river.

Toughest greens I've ever played! A real challenge. Beautiful layout!
Hard course, but fun. Rate of play great! Location is beautiful. Very difficult greens because of contours
Kino springs
Playing this course is alway fun, but this time the staff went above and beyond. We had forgotten out lunch and they had the restaurant make us a sandwich and then brought it out to so, amazing and it was the best ever club sandwich I have ever had. They are always very accomading.
Thank you for the great review. We pride ourselves on superior customer service and attention to detail. We are happy that you had a great time at Kino Springs Country Club and we look forward to your return.
Excellent Greens
The course is in the best shape we have seen it in a long time.
The greens are excellent bent grass and in beautiful shape
We are happy that you enjoyed your round at Kino Springs! We look forward to your return and hope that you enjoy your next round!
Maturing Kino Springs Golf Course.
I have played this course a number years in the past and am happy to say it is in the best overall condition in my experience. The greens are excellent bent grass, and tees and fairways more lush than any time in the last five years, The yardage isshorter than normal, but much more demanding than most==Highly recommended///
Thank you for the great review and for being a loyal customer! We hope to see you back here soon!
Worth the drive
course was in very good condition, esp. the greens which were fast and smooth.
We are very pleased that our course was worth your drive! We hope to see you back here soon!
Nice to be out in the country
The course has some great holes. Fun to play. Also a bit tricky
We are glad that you had a fun time! We hope to see you back here soon!
Very "fun" course to play
6 months a year we live in Green Valley and although this course is about 50 miles away, we always feel it's been worth it. The pace of play is very good with a friendly staff and good food to boot.
We usually have a 4 some or at least a 3 some and we're treated fairly always.
Good "bang" for the buck too!
Thank you for the great review! It is great to hear stories like this from our loyal customers! See you soon!
fast greens
Course was in a little better shape than last time playing, Greens are quite fast. Fairways were ok, rough was really rocky. Got behind a tournament, which made the first 8 holes VERY slow. But I would play again for the price I paid
Let's try to improve you experience again! Come back out and play and leave us another review.
The course has the most beautiful view in town
Excelente coarse I love it it has such a wonderful view and the people are nice I would recommend it to anybody
Thank you for the wonderful review! We love our views as well.
always fun to play
Have played Kino at least once a year for about 15 years and always enjoy it. Usually not too busy, so you can play leisurely and enjoy the environment. It is best to play the course conservatively because of the tight hole in the hills.
Thank you for playing Kino Springs! We are glad that you enjoyed yourself at the course. Come back and see us soon!
Quiet Holiday on the Course
Quiet Columbus Day Holiday found us with the course almost to ourselves. Tees were up; so rarely played the driver. Fairways and tee boxes needed mowing. Looks like they need to sharpen the blades on the mowers as there was a lot of grass that was just pushed over instead of cut. The 4.2 rating on GolfNow is higher than it should be. It's more in the line of 3.2 - 3.4. Nice layout with lots of potential though. Greens were just ok and have some hidden breaks to them; so check both sides of the hole before putting. Strange finishing hole with a power pole and power lines across the middle of the fairway. Course does not go back to clubhouse after nine holes, and water on course is provided with drinking fountains; so you may want to ensure you bring your own refreshments. I did not try the water though as I brought my own bottled water.
Thank you for your review. We just came out of overseeding so we need to cut down the grass slowly. Hope to see you out at the course again!
Fall Course Ready to Play
After the summer monsoons and the work that the maintenance crew completed, the course is in great shape. A few more weeks of mowing and general care. the course will be outstanding. Tee boxes and fairways are lush and very playable. The bunkers have good sand and play well. The greens are in great shape, soft and holding, while putting was very good. One of "the best kept secret courses" in Arizona.
Thank you for playing Kino Springs and reviewing the course again! We are glad that you thought the course was in great shape. Come back and see us soon!
Can you say "Green"?
What can I say but another great day at Kino. Due to the monsoon season and maintenance, everything is nice and green. Thank you Keith for your interest in what we thought about the fairways and crabgrass eradication. Also thanks go to Lacey for running beverage out to us. Hit the spot. Considering we were about the only folks out there, it was understandable why the cart was not driving around. Concerning negative reviews, guess you can't please everyone. Makes more room for us. We will be back.
Thank you so much for playing Kino Springs! We are happy to have you at the course and glad that you enjoyed yourself. Come back and see us soon!
Great greens, well tended tees and fairways and super nice staff
We booked a hot deal to play 18 holes for two people so we got a great deal, however at a low or mid twenty rate Kino provides the best value in the area for course conditions especially greens conditions, super friendly and attentive staff, beverage cart came by several times during the round, which was timed perfectly for the turns, Doug cleaned up our bags and cart, recognized us from previous visits, starter went through the trouble to help me locate club cover, nice weather also beautiful veiws
Thank you for playing Kino Springs! We are glad that you enjoyed yourself and saw value in our course. Come back and see us again!
The greens are good and some of the fairways are poor.
The staff was really great to meet in early morning. We got off on time and no one was there to push us or in front of us. We were a 4-some and the group ahead was a 3-some, so they moved on out. The course always presents some very challenging holes, especially the canyon holes. The greens were full and rolling really nice. I managed to get on a par 5 in 2 and putted for an eagle for the 1st time. Of course I missed it, but got the birdie. We had a great time as usual at Kino Springs. The scenic views are spectacular!!!!
Thank you for playing Kino Springs! We are glad that you had a good time and congratulations on getting to the par 5 in 2! Come back and see us soon!
So disappointed
We booked a tee time at Kino Springs for Fathers Day. We looked forward to it all week. Let me say, the greens were in really good shape. The gentleman in the pro shop was pleasant when we checked in. I wish he would've told us how bad the course was. The experience when downhill from there. We stuck it out through 5 holes and then looked at each other and said lets get out of here! So, we made our way back to the pro shop and left. Went to another course in the area and ended up having a nice day of golf. We will not be returning. So disappointed
Thank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear about this. Please send an email to kinospringgolfclub@yahoo.com to further discuss.
POOR MAN'S STARR PASS
I arrived at this course and my first thought was why did I drive all this way for this place?
However, after the first two holes ( which could use some loving care) the rest of the course is in fine shape. It is not your average Tucson Golf course---- There are real hills--as in New England Golf. The course is a little short... the dog legs and hills make up for it. It is certainly worth the drive--and a visit--at least once....you won't really need your driver---but you will need your irons and some skill.
Dry Season
One of my favorite courses given the terrain and changing shot angles. However I could see that the tee boxes and fairways needed watering and maintenance. Greens were recently aerated and sanding which meant putting was an adventure. The greens did appear to be watered. The late spring and into the summer this course tends to dry out noticeably as available water to maintain the course seems to scarce. Until the monsoons bring the water, the course will be dry and in less than the best of condition.
Thank you for the review and the insight on the course. With this time of the year being extremely dry, it is hard to keep the conditions where they were a couple months ago. Please come out and see us again!
Great Staff
The staff and course superintendent were very friendly. The fairways and greens were in very good shape. They were aerating holes 5 thru 13, so we played 1 thru 4, and 14 thru 18 twice. Other than the cart paths being in very rough shape we had a good time.
Great day for golf
Escaped the heat of Green Valley to play Kino Springs. Weather and course were great. Fairways have filled in unlike some of the GV courses and the greens were fast. Staff is always friendly from the front desk to the guys who meet us and get our clubs loaded. A great value also.
Thank you for taking the time to review us on GolfAdvisor! We are happy that you found our course being a challenge, yet fun to play. Please come back for another round!
