Kino Springs Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2021.
Surrounded by acres of gently rolling hills studded with native mesquite and oak trees, Kino Springs Golf Course has a stunning location along the Santa Cruz River. Savvy birdwatchers know that it's a major flyway where you can see flycatchers, orioles, kingfishers, and grey hawks. The course is part of the historic Estancia Yerba Buena Ranch, which has hosted an impressive guest list over the years that includes John Wayne and Elizabeth Taylor. The golf course is player friendly enough for beginners but it has enough risk-reward opportunities to appeal to low handicappers. The opening holes play across open meadows but by the fifth hole you'll find yourself in canyon country. Mature pine trees frame Kino Springs Golf Course's last five holes but the views from the elevated tees stretch past the treetops to the scenic river.

Return to a historic course
We hadn"t played this course in several years. The course is in excellent shape. The course is green and the greens and sandtraps are the best we have seen in Southern Arizona this year. The restaurant is excellent. The young chef knows what he is doing. I recommend eating here after playing.
condition of course
Yhe greens and fairways and tee boxes were great.Rough and cartpath need a lot of work.
Course in good shape
Have been playing here over past 12 years, but skipped last year. We were pleasantly surprised to find the course in much better shape than ever before. Seemed like there were a few problems and it was headed downhill for a awhile in the 2010-2013 range. If you haven't been there in a while, give it a try.
Great Views
A rustic place located in a remote area near the Mexico border. The views are terrific and the challenges are typical desert type. You will enjoy your round.
Goin' for the Green
The course was in great shape and being well maintained. The greens were running a bit slower than I recall, but given that, the ball rolled well. This course needs to be managed well as danger
is everywhere if your shots stray. Views as you travel through the interior holes are excellent.
Scenic & challenging
Starts with four basically flat holes, followed by ten with lots of hills and contour, closing with four basically flat holes. Like playing two different venues. I thought very good value for the money. A bit of a drawback is no real clubhouse facilities to chill after your round.
Neil's Tale
Always liked this course. Fun to play. Ah very good layout Whitley some challenging holes.
Has some great holes
My wife and I, were treated like members. The staff were ex. Our waitress at the grill, took us on a quick tour of the former home. She could not have been nicer. Ned foley , valley forge ,pa.
A fun but challenging course
Course was in good condition but play was slow 5+ Hrs
Course is in good shape
Course was in good shape when I played 2/27/2015. Fairways and tees are green. Greens roll true, are fairly fast, and will hold a good iron from the fairway. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. I would play there again.
It's worth the drive.
We play Kino Springs regularly throughout the winter months. We love it because of the friendliness of the staff and the fact they allow our dog to accompany us during the round. The course is always in very good shape (considering the hot dry climate here).
Fun times at Kino Springs
This was my first time playing at Kino...Would I go back? Absolutely! The course was in great shape and everyone was very friendly. Looking forward to coming back.
Good Greetings
Have played many times at the course overmany years. The staff and workers were very friendly. They always do a good job. We like the course and intend on playing it in the future.
Better than I thought
Played for the first time out of all the years I have been coming down to Tucson and now that I have lived here full time for 2 years. I agree with most of all the other reviews in that it is a gem to play and it was fun. Most of the fairways are narrow so you need to hit a good drive. Staff was extremely positive and friendly. One bad thing that I noticed was that the cart paths were not in good shape which made for a very bumpy ride a lot of the time. Have to mention that I screwed up my GolfNow date of play and showed up a day late. So after much friendly ridiculing and giving me a hard time the staff was able to fit the 2 of us in even though the day was booked. That was awesome.
Fun Course
My wife and I took a shot at driving 50 minutes from Green Valley. The pace of play was slower than we like but a person in our group was to blame. Followed every rule, took a lot of practice swings and missed the ball.
But the course has a nice layout, not too long but in good shape. The club house is an historic ranch where Hollywood folks would come. The folk are very friendly. Looking forward to going back.
Keith, the director of golf is perfect person for the job. He went out of his way to make you feel welcome.
We will be back for their golf and dinner special shortly.
Nice course for the money.
Got a little windy later in day. Had fun and enjoyed some great views.
Nice course that needs upgrades
Fairways and greens were in excellent condition but the rest of the course was old and in need of repair and upgrades. Staff were very friendly and helpful getting us out after a frost delay.
Keeno!
Kino Springs is in the best condition in my memory. They have actual sand in the traps, grass on the fairways and those greens, hard to read, fast and small. I hope that they are able to keep the improvements coming at a time when a lot of southern AZ courses are going backwards or closing.
