Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
About
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club offers the traditional links course reminiscent of those found in the British Isles, situated amidst Virginia's horse country. The club gets its name from the land's former use, a raspberry field. The scenic terrain overlooks to Catoctin Mountains and there are still a few raspberry bushes dotting the course. By far the layout's most formidable challenges come from the deep, stacked pot bunkers that make it truly feel like a classic Scottish golf course. There are also water hazards on a few holes. The course's signature is the par-4 third hole, which is long but plays downhill all the way. The 10th hole, another par 4, is one of the toughest. The landing area is generous off the tee but there is a creek and pond to the left and fairway bunkers on the right.

Roughest course I’ve played in a while
The greens were loaded with crab grass, pace of play was super slow for a Wednesday. There was construction on 4 different holes and the crew was right in front of the green with a hose blocking the green. It ruined my roll up for a birdie opportunity. Did not enjoy myself, it looked in rough shape for a course that is so well set up.
Not Worth The Money
I’ve played Raspberry Falls several times a year over the last 8 years and I’m disappointed to see the course conditions deteriorate and the fee get so expensive. $120 for a course currently under renovations, with patchy rough, fairways, and tee boxes is unacceptable.
I love the track and views, but I was shocked by the poor customer service. The marshals aggressively asked us to pick up the pace 3 times with a single in front and the group behind us an entire hole behind. We played in 4 hours and to be aggressively told to pick up the pace multiple times is poor customer service. Unfortunately we will not be coming back to Raspberry Falls any time soon.
Not worth it
$130 dollars is just simply too much to play a golf course that is in this condition. I have played several of the raspberry falls properties. And this one was in about equal shape to Augustine. Which was half the price to play.
This layout is fun and fantastic but there is no way of indicating if the pin is in the front, middle, or back of the green. Would much rather play Augustine or even Old Hickory twice, or either course at Penn National. I really wanted to love Raspberry Falls but it is just average, and for the price I paid I expected to be blown away.
Great time at Raspberry and good exercise
Since there had been rain, we played cart path only for the whole course. Needless to say, it was good exercise.
Course is in repair
Right now is not the best time to play this course. There are several holes that are under construction/repair. This is one of my favorite courses in the area, but this is the worst I’ve seen the course in the last two years.
Lots of ongoing construction which isn’t ideal as Spring approaches.
Great time!!
Was a great time even under winter conditions...we’ll definitely be back !!
All things considered ... Great!
Nice links style course that in midwinter has held up fairly nicely both in the fairways and on the greens. We were impressed.
Pace of play was decent for playing on a Sunday and the staff was friendly and accommodating.
Enjoyable Gary Player course design that is open and yet challenging. We look forward to returning and playing again this Winter/Spring.
Decent course, but poor service(this time)
I will caveat this review by saying Ive played this course before and had better experience. I had a tee time at 2:24 and was delayed 30 minutes before I finally got out. They said they didn’t have any carts so they let two others at our time slot go out while me and another guy waited. While we were waiting, someone I presume was a member, went out and teed off. Finally they came out with a cart but said me and the other guy at the time slot had to share (despite covid-19 social distancing). I just decided to walk because I wasn’t waiting another half hour. Frustrating part is the rate was supposed to include a cart and I could see multiple carts in the shed being charged up and multiple around back waiting to be cleaned up
Well maintained and challenging course
A must play course in NOVA. Pace was good and staff were friendly as always. One of the finest courses in the region.
At least they're consistent
This course remains obscenely over-priced for it's consistently poor condition. Really a shame as it is a great lay-out but between the bare tees, chewed up fairways, bunkers with rocks, dirt, clay, some sort of fiber matting but little/no sand and sketchy, inconsistent greens, it is not worth the time, aggravation and certainly not $115 to play. Word around the course was that they met their break-even back in May so not sure where the profit is going...it isn't going to repair the bridge that washed out back in Aug and obviously not going toward any improvements in conditions, management (slow play) or capital. They have apparently hired a "language ranger" though to help control the use of profanity so they got that going for them. Go elsewhere
