Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
About
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club offers the traditional links course reminiscent of those found in the British Isles, situated amidst Virginia's horse country. The club gets its name from the land's former use, a raspberry field. The scenic terrain overlooks to Catoctin Mountains and there are still a few raspberry bushes dotting the course. By far the layout's most formidable challenges come from the deep, stacked pot bunkers that make it truly feel like a classic Scottish golf course. There are also water hazards on a few holes. The course's signature is the par-4 third hole, which is long but plays downhill all the way. The 10th hole, another par 4, is one of the toughest. The landing area is generous off the tee but there is a creek and pond to the left and fairway bunkers on the right.

Always fun always great
Always been one of the best courses in the metro area. Conditions are always good, staff if always friendly, practice facilities are wonderful and pace of play is great
Needs work
Course needs work in all areas. Tee boxes, fairways and greens. Plus, the cart paths need work as well.
Great course, bad shape
This course used to command $125 greens fees and was the talk of the town. Sadly, it seems they are barely holding on. Greens and fairways were absolutely concrete and rough is dying. Multiple wedges mid green bouncing high and off the back. Fairways would run out 60 yards. This would all be ok if everything was consistent. Some greens held, some were rock hard. Won’t be back until conditions improve.
SLOW pace of play and delayed start - dissappointing
The course is great. Staff is fantastic. The pace of play was worse than municipal courses - took over 5.5 hours. Very disappointing for the price of the course I expected more. Plus there was a 20 minutes delay due to Golf Now overbooking. The course owns the issue in my mind. Will not travel out of my way for this course due to yesterday's experience.
Raspberry Falls still good
First time I played Raspberry Falls this season and first in nearly a year. I used to play this course a couple times a month for over a decade. i still love the risk reward challenge the layout offers. I was however disappointed at the greens as they were very choppy and beat up quite a bit. Other that that, the staff was friendly and inviting as always.
A treasure.
Very friendly staff. A great golf course. One of NoVA very best public golf courses. We really appreciate Raspberry Falls.
Starting to go downhill . . .
Very good layout but starting to go downhill. Poa is taking over many of the greens on the course. The practice green just outside the pro shop is a disaster and it leaves you with a terrible first impression. Tees and fairways are OK but below average for the prices they charge. Great practice area.
Satisfied with experience
Myself and a friend made the trip to Raspberry Falls from Northern PA in an attempt to find warmer and drier weather. I heard good things about Raspberry Falls from a co-worker so that combined with catching a deal made us make the trip. Overall, Raspberry Falls delivered.
I get some of the comments regarding the course conditions as they certainly were not perfect; more specifically the greens Some of the greens were surprisingly "bad" for May 1st in NOVA. If they can get the greens cleaned up they'll be very little to complain about. The bunkers, fairways and tee boxes were all in good shape. The layout itself is very playable. The blue tees offer a non-taxing but still challenging experience. There's very few forced carries.
The staff was extremely friendly. We got a bit lost on our way down and they sent us out at later time without issue.
I would definitely play here again so long as I knew the greens were on the up and up.
Only play if you get HOT DEAL Starting to go downhill
I have been playing this course for years and it has always been one of the nicer options in the northern va area. As always the staff was very friendly and the clubhouse was clean. Other than that this place needs some serious consideration on what has gone wrong the past year. Yes it has rained a lot but this is the only course in the area where the tee boxes (besides the tips) are completely chewed up and horrendous. The greens roll ok but are very splotchy. And they now make you pay for range balls. For the price they charge I’d expect a much better course, free range balls, and atleast a cart with a GPS. Definitely will only be playing her if I get a hot deal for cheap this year.
Good course
Good course which was in good shape....hard to find this early in the season. No beer cart on the course which was a bummer, could have used some refreshment during the round.
What happened??
Raspberry Falls has been one of our favorite courses in the area for years, but wow, were we disappointed in the condition of the course! Tee boxes were in bad shape, greens were spotty and bumpy, sand traps were horrendous, bathrooms were dirty, ball washers literally had brown water, range balls no longer included if you get a discounted green fee are just a few of the noticeable shortcomings! Did something change with the management??
We had booked a tee time to play with out of town guests next weekend.....we are changing those plans after what we experienced. Sure hope things improve!
