Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
About
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club offers the traditional links course reminiscent of those found in the British Isles, situated amidst Virginia's horse country. The club gets its name from the land's former use, a raspberry field. The scenic terrain overlooks to Catoctin Mountains and there are still a few raspberry bushes dotting the course. By far the layout's most formidable challenges come from the deep, stacked pot bunkers that make it truly feel like a classic Scottish golf course. There are also water hazards on a few holes. The course's signature is the par-4 third hole, which is long but plays downhill all the way. The 10th hole, another par 4, is one of the toughest. The landing area is generous off the tee but there is a creek and pond to the left and fairway bunkers on the right.

Great layout, beautiful spot. Cold and Windy the day we played . great variety of holes
My new favorite course. It was a cold windy day in the mid 40's when we ended. The staff was great.. Greens were fast but true. Played form the whites seeing it was our first time. Can't wait to play it again when the weather gets better and things start to blossom.
One of the best in the area
Excellent course with great conditions and they maintain the course condition better than most other courses during the off-season too. The course gets expensive during the golf season so if you can find a deal to play here, I highly recommend it. The head pro Mr. Lutz is awesome too.
December Golf
Staff very good - course layout very good - sand traps also in good shape - raked and seemed consistent. Tee boxes and fairways were ok but needed some repair - part of that was due to the time of year. We enjoyed our round of golf
Always a pleasure playing this course
Always a pleasure playing this course. For a late November round, the course was in great shape. Greens rolled well and fairways were well manicured. Will be back soon!
One of the the best courses in NOVA. A must play.
The course is beautiful especially in the fall. The prime time to see the colors is the first week of November.
Great Course Beautiful Day
I really enjoyed my round at Raspberry Falls. The course is beautiful especially with the trees changing colors on a bright sunny November day. The views from some of the elevated tees are wonderful. The course was in great shape with the greens being pretty fast. Interesting variety of holes with some challenging bunker shots. The staff I dealt with in the pro shop, the starter - Harold, and the cart lady were all very friendly, helpful and professional. Had a thoroughly enjoyable round.
Nice course, abrasive staff
We were hyper conscious of our rate of play because were all novice golfers, but were rushed through and made to skip 3 holes. They were rude and we were all convinced the group behind us had caused the hold up. We barely saw the group behind us.
Great course but stressed by weather lately..still very playable
The greens look spotty. Fairways have lots of divots. Tee boxes are ok except for #18. So, the course gets a fair amount of play (IMHO, good). Greens are running around 10 stimpmeter (country club speed) despite the way they looked and had average chatter due to old ball marks. Approach shots need to factor in that the greens are quite firm due to drought like weather for the past month. Overall, definitely puttable but will turn off below average putters as the suble slopes combined with speed will balloon their score up. Bent fairways are one of the premium features to play here. It's my preference when not overwatered but is the most difficult compared to zoysia and bermuda. The course has a good variety of long and short holes. My only complaint are the bunkers. The pot type design is quite penalizing and slows done play. Bunkers are far from Tour grade white. They fine to hit out off meaning that it's not thin, rutted, or packed. The problem is the rocks. I understand loose impediment rule but I'm not a tour player and have to pay for these clubs myself. Note to clubhouse- Upgrade the bunkers and this place would be an awesome gem. Beverage services came around every 45 minutes and was well stocked and friendly. Clubhouse looks well decorated and comfortable. Pro shop looks better stocked than most with adequate staffing to help you. The service level is part of what sets this course above many. Starting with the crew that loads your clubs, attentive starter, on course marshall (saw him at least 4 times), beverage wagon, post round club cleaning, dining room and pro shop. This was my 3 round here (this season) and I waited to make sure my review wasn't based on a one time anomaly. Although the course is showing signs of stress, it won't last as the weather is finally turning. Fall rain and cooler temperature will be a blessing to the greenskeeper. I will play here again and definitely recommend this course.
Nice course
I really enjoyed the layout of the course.
Greens are fast but roll very true
Nice layout but greens need work
I know a lot of courses this time of year are going through the same thing with aeration but these greens didn't seem to take too well to it. Aeration holes were uneven, not top dressed with sand. Some edges of greens were marred from the machine doing the aerification. All courses should lower their fees during this time period knowing full well the conditions are going to be substandard.
They are having a really tough time with their conditions right now
Just got back from playing in a VSGA one-day event. 5.5 hours. Not Raspberry's fault, of course. But the greens had been aerated last week and are bumpy and sandy. Some tough spots in the fairways also. For the $65 they want M-Th or $75 on Friday you can play Westpark twice and it is in MUCH better shape.
Excellent layout
Like other Raspberry Trail courses, this is a solid track. They had gotten a ton of rain the night before, so things were a little soggy, but other than some water in bunkers, it wasn't too noticeable. Excellent and diverse layout of holes, and very well-maintained (and wide) fairways. Greens rolled true, and I only noticed some wear and tear on them on a few holes. Got a $45 deal, but I would pay $75 to play here (and I'm kind of stingy when it comes to greens fees.)
Great time with a great price
Always a fun course to play and it was slow so we had no one on the course with us which was awesome.
Title
I love this course and respect the layout, it rained the day before and the greens were running slow.
Not a fan of the new answering system although everyone is friendly. Maybe you should use at peek times, operators are not fully informed about cart path rules senior rates and the like so I keep getting transferred back and forth
Raspberry Falls Outing
The course was in excellent shape and the pace of play was great, We didn't have to wait on any holes. The staff at Raspberry falls was very courteous, friendly and helpful and I would recommend all to play this course.
Enjoyed Golf Course
Great course conditions.
Great weather
Great Golfnow deal
Just wish my golf game was equally Great
As great as it looks!
I don't play many northern Virginia courses but this course was a nice surprise. The course is in great shape and well worth the $55 I paid. Even on a weekend I would not have paid $100 for it though. Thanks for the great deal golfnow!
