solid county course
fairways a bit too long but its decent for the money.
Good value golf
I had not played Algonquin for 30 years. The course is good shape, but there was still some water in the roughs. So carts were restricted to paths. The greens were in good shape but some placements were put on hills or ridges on the green. But the greens were average speed & were smooth. The pace of play was good, especially for a public course. The price was adlai very reasonable. I will definitely go back again this summer.
Rough too high
Please tell the greens keeper to cut the rough between fairways. You can not find for golf ball 80% of the time.
Reacquainted with an old friend.
Played this beautiful course many times during the mid 1970s thru 1991, then moved out of the state for 34 years. So glad to find Algonkian as nice as it was in the past. Good ole friend.
Public course
Its a great pub;ic course. Sometimes its too busy but sometimes it plays at time.
I highly recommend for you.
The Staff is very kind and friendly .
Algonkian early April
I played Algonkian 4/1/25. It’s my go to course when I want to play a quick 9 holes. I made a tee time and showed up to play. The starter initially had me playing the front 9, behind two other players. As it was 5:30 pm, I expect there may be beginning players out, and don’t complain if the pace is slower. (The real golfers have early tee times!)
The starter came up to the tee box, where I’d been waiting for 5 minutes to tee off (until the other golfers reached the greens). He offered to let me move to the back 9, where the back up was non existent.
Nice, open course
My wife (novice) and I (intermediate) played this course and really enjoyed it. It's in fine shape for the time of year and it is fairly open which enabled a decent speed of play. The greens were in very good shape while the fairways were still emerging from dormancy. I'd definitely play this course again and would highly recommend it for new golfers. We got really nice weather and got partnered up with a pretty laid back guy which also helped!
Cold but great day to play golf
Played on a cloudy and kinda cold day but had fun with the course and the group playing with.
