Golfer Reviews
Atrocious pace of play
I booked an 08:10 AM tee time on a Saturday as a single walker, fully expecting a smooth morning round. Instead, when I rolled into the course at 07:50 AM, the place was already completely packed. When I stepped onto the tee box at 08:05 AM for my 08:10 AM slot, the foursome ahead of me was barely 150 yards out from the pin. They sent me out on the West/South rotation, and I was immediately stuck behind three separate groups. The pace of play was atrocious, to say the least. While $60 to walk is a standard rate for the area, it is a complete waste of money when you are forced into total gridlock from the very first tee.To make matters worse, Avalon does absolutely nothing to enforce the pace of play. There were no marshals anywhere on the course to monitor the logjam or keep groups moving efficiently. When I reached the turn, I asked the head pro if I could switch over to the North nine for my back half to escape the logjam. I was told no because it was closed for a tournament, and that they were actually preparing to shut down the entire course soon anyway. The head pro literally told me to "just play two balls." This completely highlights the problem: Avalon values making money on tournaments and company outings over actual daily-fee golfers. Between the terrible pacing, nonexistent marshals, dismissive staff comments, and constant event disruptions, it's getting harder to justify spending my money here.
Avalon
Avalon is the top public course near Burlington and still reasonably priced. Greens are tricky and fast! Traps are well-kept.
Nice day
Golf course is very good with a lot of challenging holes. Just my opinion but I would like to see 9holes with the next hole being 10 to 18. Instead there is 3 courses of 9 holes.
Great Round at Avalon
Fantastic value and really a nice course to play. Pace of play with a 0900 tee time was under 4 hours. Very much enjoyed my round and will play again the next time I am in town. Absolutely recommend the Avalon golf course.
Always worth the drive!
Love these tracks! The greens are recovering nicely
Great course, wrong GolfNow address
The course is in great condition. We played west south courses. West is shorter but trickier. However, please be aware the address on GolfNow reservation page is wrong, it led us to a place of nowhere. We eventually used Apple map address to get to place
The course was good. Course management was not.
Everything is fine on the course, but for some reason, they decided to squeeze another group in front of us at the last second. This group was a family that was not very good and took a long time to play. This caused us to have a long round and give us a very negative experience on this course.
Very playable
Nice clubhouse and friendly staff. Course was in good shape and very playable. Plenty of dog legs and protected greens presenting moderate challenges. I will certainly play here again.
Everything great except greens
I’m a 6 handicap golfer. I would not recommend a course with super slow/bumpy greens. Bottom line is that Avalon has (3) nice 9 s , but for some reason the greens are way below average. Can’t recommend course
Pace of play
It had the slowest pace a play I have ever seen, I didn’t even have time to play all 18 holes
Always fun!
My wife likes this course, so we play it two or three times a year. Good value with the hot deals.
