Mountain views and forests of tall pines, firs and evergreens provide the backdrop for the top public golf courses in Washington state.
GolfPass releases a Top 20 Public Golf Courses in Washington every March thanks to YOU. We create our annual Golfers' Choice lists by curating the reviews submitted by everyday golfers. We use GolfPass' Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course's subcategory averages.
Each course needed at least one review and at least some public access to qualify. Whether it's panoramic vistas of the Puget Sound or evergreen forests you seek, the top public golf courses of Washington state always deliver.
We make our Golfers' Choice best-of lists user friendly. Simply click on the photo of each course to learn more about the facility or to book a tee time (in most cases).

Best Public Golf Courses in Washington
-
Gold Mountain Golf Club - Olympic Course
Bremerton, WashingtonPublic/MunicipalGreen fee: $40-$100
What they're saying: "Did this course as part of Chambers Bay's Championship Experience. Had an early AM tee time, and weather was perfect. Package came with cart and range balls, but course was walkable and many were doing so. Thought the course layout and conditions were very good. Greens had some patchy spots, but rolled true for the most part. Although this goes through the trees, didn't think it was that narrow. #18 is an interesting hole as it's on the short side, perfect ending if you were in a match and needed to make birdie. Pace was just under 4 hours, saw the beverage cart when playing back side. If I lived in this area, I would play this course over and over as I think course knowledge is beneficial." - Masokidum -
The Home Course
Green fee: $39-$59
What they're saying: "Did The Home Course as part of Chambers Bay's "Championship Experience". Package comes with cart and with range balls. Carts are electric with GPS. They were nice. Course is good, greens rolled decent and bunkers not bad. Seemed to be some patchy areas in the rough, but (there were) no issues in fairways. We had early AM tee time, so pace wasn't an issue. Finished in just under 4 hours. The Marshall was visible multiple times. Saw the beverage cart a couple times. The turn also comes back to #10 if you need anything. If ever in the area again, I would go back." - Masokidum -
Indian Canyon Golf Course
Green fee: $29-$32
What they're saying: "Great course. My brother and I flew into the Spokane area for our annual golf trip. Indian Canyon was our first course. Our plane was late, but fortunately the Indian Canyon pro shop staff was very accommodating! Thank ya!!! We came in hot, checked-in, and went straight to the first tee. We really enjoyed the course. Its tree lines fairways make it a tight course and the greens are wicked tough. Miss it on the wrong side and a 3-4 putt is in your very near future. Regardless, we enjoyed IC and would recommend it!" - clayjok -

Chambers Bay
Green fee: $150-$275
What they're saying: "Chambers Bay lives up to and exceeds the hype. This course provides some great challenges with both shots off the tee and into the green. Interesting routing throughout the round provides an excellent opportunity to view the course and surrounding amazing views as the sun and temperature change during it." - Mlukich51 -
Port Ludlow Golf Resort
Green fee: $51-$62
What they're saying: "It's nice to have someone who's played the course before to help point you in the right direction. There are doglegs where you are not quite sure how far it is to the corner. There is also a lot of vertical changes as well where you might not be sure on where to aim or how far it plays. With a little help from your friends, it's a wonderful experience. Well worth playing!" - GolfPass Reviewer -

Mint Valley Golf Course
Green fee: $37-$55
What they're saying: "The fairways and greens were in great condition! The rough was playable and cut to a good length. My only complaint were the cart paths. They really need to be dug up and put in new asphalt. I really enjoyed playing Mint Valley!" - GolfPass Reviewer -

Camaloch Golf Club
Green fee: $27-$43
What they're saying: "Played at 1:30 on a Friday. Pace was great. Never had to wait on a tee box. Lots of singles or doubles out that day so pace was great. Course has some narrow fairways on some holes. The greens here are fast and lots of uneven putts. If you care about your score, I’d suggest taking a 360 degree look at your putt. Very nice course. Give it a go. I’ll play it again anytime." - kschintz -
