About
Blue Heron Golf Course, formerly known as Carnation Golf Course, first opened in 1967 but underwent a major renovation, in addition to the name change, after it was bought in 2011. Located in the Snoqualmie Valley, the course would occasionally be overrun by the Snoqualmie River but thanks to improved drainage and irrigation features added in the renovation, the course is able to drain remarkably fast. At just a few yards shy of 6,000 yards, Blue Heron G.C. is on the shorter side but that is no indication of its level of difficulty. Golfers will face a variety of challenges including an abundance of bunkers strategically placed throughout. One of the toughest holes is the par-5 17th, which is a blind tee shot where a long iron might come in more handy than a driver.

Tee boxes were garbage and sand traps looked like rain forest but I’m sure the China virus has something to do with this. Started this in the rain then it got nice I lost two balls to mud.........next to the greens............

No Change
Every year I try this course once just in the off chance that they have put some money or effort into improving the quality of the course, No changes. The course is still an over rated cow pasture. How they stay open with the fees they charge is a mystery.

Dam bursting
We were enjoying our day when an alarm went off and we were asked to evacuate because the dam had burst. We raced out of there after only 7 holes and later found out it was a false alarm

Restaurant doesn't open till 11, so no breakfast. The range was closed for maintenance, opened around 9.

4th of July
I played first thing Saturday morning and the course was in good condition. This is a small local public course, but in much better condition than others in the area, and generally less crowded. The two things I don't like about the course are the tee boxes are never in the best shape, and the sand traps are more like overgrown dirt pits. There are not too many of them, so not a huge issue. The greens roll decent, with not a ton of break. Par 5s are set up well to allow for getting there is 2, but if not, your 3rd shot is within 100 yards, so very makeable birdie. (I chipped in from 30 yards for an eagle on 9). I shot an 84, which for me is exceptional. All in all a great day.

Surprised in a good way.
I’ve been playing here off and on for 7 years. I read some bad reviews and almost didn’t come out. Those reviews were wrong. The course is in surprisingly good shape. Greens were perfect. Rough areas were rough and some high grass but it’s a muni course. Only down side was sand traps. There are only a few but just agree with your party and pull the ball out. Front 9 is easy if you hit it straight. Back nine will challenge every club in your bag. We literally played new castle on Monday and had fun today. Staff are amazing. So nice. Take care of you. We’re coming back soon. Is this a world class course. No. But is this a fun course for a group of dudes or for a family. Absolutely.

Back nine conditions poor
I'm afraid you have lost me as a customer. The back nine was very soggy and the fairways poorly maintained. Lost three balls in the middle of the fairway due to plugging or simply not being able to find it due to tall grass and clover. For the cost, I can play some pretty nice golf courses in the area. This
course has loads of potential but due to poor drainage and other issues it is off my list.

Get what you pay for
I'm not an avid golfer, mainly a beginner. They ran out of carts. First time walking a course. We waited at about 9 of the holes we played. The course was muddy and lots of mosquitoes. Still scratching. Overall the course was ok and I'd probably play there again. The clubhouse was open and we got a great burger, fries and some calamari after we were done. Nice bogey round.

Blue Heron
For the money charged this course was awful. It is not maintained. The sand traps were covered with weeds. The weed controls on this course is nonexistent. There is a large tree down across the fairway on one of the first 9holes. Keep in mind we paid over $80 to golf 9 holes for the two of us! I had higher expectations. I can not in good faith recommend this course.

Affordable price....for a reason.
Tee boxes are all trashed. Lumpy, uneven, bare spots. The rough is basically just weeds and clovers. The blue tees (just under 6K yards) are forced positions and feel unnatural playing from them. Some fairways and most greens were in good shape at least. Some of the trees have grown over the years and constrict normal ball flight windows.

Good for the price
After being closed for a while the fairways were long and unkept. Overall good for the price.
