Blue Heron Golf Course

About
Blue Heron Golf Course, formerly known as Carnation Golf Course, first opened in 1967 but underwent a major renovation, in addition to the name change, after it was bought in 2011. Located in the Snoqualmie Valley, the course would occasionally be overrun by the Snoqualmie River but thanks to improved drainage and irrigation features added in the renovation, the course is able to drain remarkably fast. At just a few yards shy of 6,000 yards, Blue Heron G.C. is on the shorter side but that is no indication of its level of difficulty. Golfers will face a variety of challenges including an abundance of bunkers strategically placed throughout. One of the toughest holes is the par-5 17th, which is a blind tee shot where a long iron might come in more handy than a driver.

Horrible
Unless you get the hot deal for $25 with a cart DO NOT play here. Tee boxes are hard as a rock, fairways are basically rough and the greens are completely dead with huge cracks on them.
Greens are unplayable!
Heads up if you’re planning on playing in August 2024. Played a round there today and the course is in horrible condition. 6 of the greens are temporary and almost all of the rest of the greens are in really bad shape. No mention of any of this on the website and they are still charging full price. It’s a decent course and I usually enjoy playing there but some sort of notice that the greens were essentially unplayable would’ve been nice. The photo is the green on hole 2 and the majority of the greens look just like this.
Needs Some Work
The staff is super friendly but even for $36 the course isn’t really worth playing until then redo the greens. They’ve gotten so cracked there is no way to legitimately finish many of the holes on the course. If you’re just looking to practice they do have a grass range but I’d stick to that for now.
Not very green greens
Some of the holes had like straight lava rock lookin sections. Would liked to have seen some of the edges mowed a little better. I haven’t been here for a while, seems like maintenance has gone downhill. Staff was very friendly, and still had a good day overall. Course has a cool layout just looks like she needs some work
Should warn players about current condition of greens
Played here many times. Fun little course, not always in great shape, but has always been decent.
WARNING: greens are currently in horrible shape, almost un-playable. Looks like a fertilizer burn. Others just completely dried up cracked sod.
Greens are unplayable
Greens are unplayable. The grass is long and crazy slow OR it's completely dead (cracked dirt) and silly fast. And it's all the same greens. But course was wide open and it was 35 on a Sunday afternoon
Blue Heron
This is a difficult review, as I played this course earlier this year and it was in better condition, but with the wet weather it was saturated and was very challenging to play. This time I expected the course to be in better condition, but all the greens were burnt, the fairways were not mowed and with all the clover it was difficult even to find the ball when hit in the fairways with no roll out. Finally the T boxes were so dry it was extremely difficult to push the tees into the ground. I hope this is the last time I have to write a 1 star review.
The course is absolutely hammered
Guys this place is rough
And for $55 with tax fee this is crazy
Charge me $30 and I could care less
Awful Course
This was possibly the worst conditioned golf course I have ever played. The fairways and greens both had huge patches of burned out grass. It was very difficult to tell the difference between the fairways and the rough. Both were extremely shaggy. It was a major waste of money.
Fun course
Fun course.
Definitely need bug spray this time of year.
Hit it at the wrong time when they were mowing.
Walked the course so there was a bit of grass clippings on the shoes and push cart.
Overall I would go back there again.
Blue heron
Bring your own or use the mosquito repellent they leave just outside of the clubhouse!!!! Some areas of the course were worse than others but I was eaten alive out there. Other than that good value and the chicken satay at the restaurant was great!
Got eating alive
The course is flat with narrow fairways, the grass was fairly long and grass clippings are left on the course leaving a breadin ground for mosquitoes. My grounp was waiting on every tee box and any time we stop moving to take a shot we would get attacked by mosquitoes.
Positive about this course the range is 300yards with grass tees.
mosquito
Mosquitoes everywhere. I’ve never paid for green fee plus cart fee and quit at sixth hole. Today’s date is June 29 if they treat their pond with mosquito killing tabs, it might solve the problem but looks like they haven’t done anything for mosquito control. I live 10 miles away and I don’t have any mosquito problems.
