first time playing at Locust hill
Was a very nice course. enjoyed playing. green course.. one neighbor even selling golf balls for 25 cents a ball.. bring a couple $1.00 bills. lol only draw back was you can't take the golf carts to the parking lot. Had to carry my clubs all the way to office where golf carts were. next time I'll have to drop off the clubs before parking.
Slow play
There were 5 groups waiting to play the 18th hole . Play was very slow because of one group. You need to monitor and move players along
Townie Course
Had fun, but there is no management at the course, just a bunch of kids running everything. One foursome held everyone up to play in 4:45. Course was interesting and fun to play even though green were recently punched. Definitely worth the price.
Terrible experience
Been here multiple times at this course and we will not be coming back. Golf course is sub par at best and the staff is INCREDIBLY rude and disrespectful. We came here because it’s close to home but now it’s not worth the time or money. Range is terrible and unkept with cheap mats and broken balls. Tee boxes are overgrown and full of divots. I will not be coming back here.
If you want to play early, don't go here
I don't understand this. Can someone enlighten me? Your first tee time is not until 8:30, don't go off until 9am. I get there, even before they open the club house. I ask if I could possibly go out before the time because I play fast & wouldn't hold anyone up. "No, we can't do that because the grounds crew is out." WHAT?? I can't go out before the time because the grounds crew is working? Why? Mowers don't bother me & the liability is on them if they don't know how to have golf etiquette & stop mowing to allow players to play through. First of all, if you did the mowing correctly in the am, you would do the holes on the front starting at #1, that way there is no doubt that the players & grounds crew would cross paths. Believe me, I worked at a CC for 15 years growing up, & if we were to tell the members that we can't let them out because of the grounds crew, they would have us fired in a heartbeat. Is there a Superintendent? Don't the mowers have lights? You can cut the grass in the dark if you know what your doing. But judging by the condition of the greens, I'd say you don't. The aeration looked haphazardly done. You can punch holes without taking up so much turf & the holes will fill faster if you sand & topdress them correctly. Oh ... not to mention the income your missing out on in the longer days of the year. Almost 2 hours have passed by before you send the first group off. When I was growing up, we had tee times at first light. As long as you can see the ball, you can play.
Some of us like to play early because we only have a certain amount of time on weekends to play & get other things done. If that's you, don't play here.
Needs some TLC
The range, fairways and greens need some love. Great potential to be an awesome experience. Hitting off mats only make practicing driver impossible unless I don’t understand the rules about practicing driver. If I hit in the fairway, I should expect to have a decent lie and the same for the greens but not as much an issue has the fairways. Great potential for this course!
Such Potential, needs some TLC turf management.
Greens looked like they hadn’t been mowed in a week, speed was super slow. Rough was covered in dandelions and tee boxes were hard as concrete. For the price, it’s fine. But the layout was great and the potential to be great course is there. Amenities are lean, staff was super friendly though.
Nice layout
I have played here many times. I took a friend with me who had never played this course to show him how nice it is. We found out after arriving that the back 9 was closed due to aeration activity and that the front 9 greens had just been aerated. Greens were very bumpy with lots of debris making putting difficult. I would not have driven an hour each way had I known about this. I'll play again when the course is back to it's usual great shape.
Shotgun start
Cheap off season rate and a shotgun 10 am start keeps things moving at an average pace.
Off season rates
Under 30 bucks and a daily shotgun start in the off season makes this a great value.
Bounce Back
Course has bounced back from the summer heat. Greens role true!
Great round of Golf
My son and I played our 1st full round of golf, and had a great time. Course offered a good variety of challenges, and situations to make sure we selected the proper clubs.
