Poorly maintained
As other reviewers have stated, the course is in rough shape. The tee boxes are uneven and torn to shreds, while the rough is so deep that I lost balls that should have been easy for the naked eye to see compared to other courses.
First Time Visit, Look Forward to Returning
An excellent community style golf course. Staff was friendly and got us on the course quickly. Was a little crowded for late afternoon play, but no one was pushy or pokey. Not a great day for hay fever sufferers, plenty of flora and fauna covering the course, a pretty backdrop for the round. The layout is a little confusing, crossing tees for other holes and u turning after a par 3 on the front nine, but that was more a first timers thing, and the welcome booklet helped keep us straight. The value is hard to beat, and even with gas prices what they are, the beautiful drive to and from the course, plus the few hours playing...a great Memorial Day weekend memory. Thank you!
Rough is crazy high
The greens were ok, the fringe of the greens is not ok. The fairways, if you can find them are in decent shape. The rough is uncut, full of clover and crab grass. If you miss the fairway, even by as little as 2 feet, plan on searching for your ball . I have a 10 handicap anywhere else I play, but this place puts me with scores way out of my normal. The rough is totally unfair. I used to be a member, decided to try it for the first time in 2 years today and I promise to never return. Could be a great course, but it’s not now.
Cool course, not worth it
i’ve come to locust a fair amount of times, and it always fails to impress me. it’s a very cool layout of holes, and could possibly be one of my favorite courses if the conditions weren’t god awful every time. the rough is ridiculously tall grass (no lie I lost several balls in the rough after seeing exactly where they landed 0.o), and the fairways aren’t much better. greens are always slow, and bunkers are terrible(not all but many).I won’t be returning until there’s a turn around on the conditions.
SLOOOWWW greens
I have played Locust Hill every year or so for close to 30 years. When I played yesterday the greens were as bad as I have ever seen them. They were bumpy and probably the slowest greens I have ever played.
I really enjoy the layout of the course but right now it is not in good shape. the tee boxes are sparse and uneven, there are weeds everywhere. But usually I can count on the greens to be nice, this was the biggest disappointment.
Hole in one #7
I found a AVX titleist ball at another course and tried to play it without losing it at Locust. I caught fire on #6 with a pitch in with my PW about 25 yards. And I ran into a gentleman who looked like my dads best friend on #7. He was playing the white tees so I decided to play the par 3 with him. 170 yards I used my 905 3 wood titleist. My second hole in one with this club. Best club ever made by far. Low fade over the sand that cut right when it hit the green. We both thought it went over but I choked down enough to were I knew it didn’t. I just doubled checked the hole and there it was. My phone battery went out so I couldn’t take a pic. I told the clubhouse manager and he just said “that’s great.”Ha.
Slow play
The greens were in good shape and rolling true however that was the only positive of the round. It took us nearly 6 hours to play 18, I feel like they over sold their tee times and no Marshall's on the course to keep pace of play moving. I would not recommend.
Great Layout Poor Condition
I will say if they put some time and money into this course it would be well worth the 60 dollars. The course layout is really fun for any level of skill. But the lack of mowing and trimming around the fairways and poor greens. I won’t be rushing back to play this course
