SLOW PLAY
7 HOURS. Ranger useless . Numerous open holes. A shame as the course has NEVER been in better shape to play
6 hour round
What do you do if you meet a beautiful woman, only to discover that her breath smells like doo-doo?? That's the clearview dilemma. This course has so much potential. It's in much, much, much better condition than marine park and forest park (2 other nyc muni courses) but not as long as marine park. But the pace of play was brutal. 6 hours?? That's waaaaayyyy too long. I felt like going home. And the rough didn't help either. If you're going to have top tier rough, then you have to spread those tee times further apart. Beautiful course, but stank pace of play. What do you do??
An absurd incident
After finishing the 11th course, I asked an employee riding a cart while looking for the 12th hole. When I heard the answer and went there, it was the 16th hole. While I was looking for the 12th hole again, the employee I asked earlier came running in a cart and said, "You hit it at the 16th hole, so go to the 17th hole." I told him I would report it to the police and left. Then I brought another employee and asked him again, "Did these people hit it at the 16th hole?" He shamelessly answered, "Yes." I was dumbfounded. After hearing that answer, I said it was right to go to the 17th hole and hit it. It was a completely ruined day for me, who was enjoying a rare free time in the scorching heat of over 32 degrees Celsius. I never want to go there again.
Pace of play.
Rough is WAY TOO HIGH. Cannot find ball. Wastes lots of time. Rangers DO NOTHING to improve pace as holes are open. 5 Hrs plus not good. Now that prices are high WE expect better, thank you.
Clean course - Slow Pace of Play
It was a decent course maintained well, fresh grass and sand pit. Played a 4:42 tee time twilight.
A problem I found was that there was some grass that was very thick so I would lose the ball and other parts were not so thick and so it wasn’t consistent on every hole. The pace of play was on the slow side. Google reviews were right. Expect to be waiting if the tee times are fully booked at your hour.
The layout is side by side so any slice or hook will go to the other hole too. Play only if not a beginner. I have experienced much worse delays on every hole at Dyker Beach golf course. It was worth visiting and enjoyed it in the end. From 4:42 to 8:45 (4 Hours!) made it to the 17th hole before it was past dusk. Fun overall for being in the area, avoiding rush hour back home by playing and going home at night with less traffic.
Upgrade looks great!
I’ve been playing this course for years. It’s obvious they’ve out some money and love into the course. Greens, which were terrible for years are now excellent. Fairways have grass and they’ve left the rough a little long so you better hit it straight.
Great job guys!
Much approved
Definitely tons of positive changes. Greens in much better condition. Quite surprised on the changes
Love playing on this course
This is my 2nd favorite golf course after Forest Park Golf Course. I always enjoy playing here!
