Beware of parking lot
Course is what you would expect. Short but fun. But I parked in the lot connected to the course near the end and when I returned some one had hit the ball off the 1st hole tee and it went over the trees and landed on the front of my hood. Giant golf ball dent right in the middle. So just a friendly warning.
fair condition
There's no Par 5, but some of greens are challenging.
Good to play.
Good course
Great course for seniors such as our group with everyone in their late sixties. Par fours under 300 yards reachable in regulation so it was a lot of fun..
Course condition particularly the fairways was excellent considering the number of rounds it must get. Only drawback for me and one of the other guys is that we live in Westchester so it’s a bit of a drive. But will definitely come back.
Overbooked back 9
Had 527am tee time and figured we would have no issues getting 18 in on this shorter course as second group out. That was working until we made the turn to 10. 4 groups at the tee because they over booked the course on the back. No starter or staff at 10 to oversee the nonsense and get things on track. Waited at least 20 minutes at each hole in the rain and couldn't finish the round because of lightning. Had there been no delay we would have easily been done. Scratch this one off the list.
Short but challenging.
Elevation factors in here with ski slopes for par threes.
NYC Public Golf Courses should change the raincheck policy
Kissena is a good golf course. The staff is friendly and always welcoming people. But we couldn't play because there was thunderstorms and it was pouring for over 20 minutes. We were on hole 1, so I asked if there was a rain check policy. I found out their policy—all nine NYC courses— is no rain check once you pay for your round. Totally unfair.
Good to practice Hill shots
Compare to the price, the course is very short and pace if very slow. Lots of beginners playing and need to watch out for the ball because each hall is fairly close to each other.
Price seems to be little too high compare to overall condition, but fairway grass is well maintained and great place to practice hill shots.
I might not revisit because I was little scared to get hit by ball from others, which disrupted my concentration
Slow Pace, good hot dogs
Slow pace but good hot dogs. You might want to get two cause you'll have time with the wait. Course condition was solid. Tight like other NYC municipal courses. Employees were friendly, and the carts were in great shape.
Slow pace for afternoon, but a solid place to play
The pace was extremely slow. Be prepared to wait awhile and have a 5-6 hour round if playing in the afternoon, which is rough for an executive course. When playing in the morning here once prior it was better. The first three holes you must be on your toes because the holes all closely border one another, but after that it is more conventional. The drink prices are solid and the hot dogs are outstanding. Overall it is not a bad course at all but the pace was definitely an issue.
full of beginners
The play itself was difficult because it was full of beginners who had no field knowledge and no manners.
