San Pedro Golf Course
About
San Pedro Golf Course is an 18 - hole championship facility located on the banks of the San Pedro River. The golf course winds through the mesquite and along the banks of the San Pedro on the front nine. The back nine travels through four canyon like settings and finishes up with the 457-yard par four split fairway eighteenth hole. The golf course stretches out to 7187 yards from the tips and there are five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels.
The surrounding vistas at San Pedro are unmatched by any other golf club in Southeastern Arizona. From various points on the course, the San Pedro River Basin can be seen and this Mark Rathert design stretches along those river banks to the natural canyon like settings with the Dragoon mountain range in the background. The elevation changes and cool crisp air provide a setting that will bring you back for the challenge.
The bentgrass greens will provide slick playing surfaces with some undulations to test your stroke. The key to play on hole # 2 - is to stay clear from the left side, as the San Pedro comes into play early in your round. Your second shot to this 457-yard par four will test your long iron game! The fifth creates a great approach to the green on this par five. The par four sixth requires precision off the tee, as there are two bunkers along the right side with a narrow approach to the green. The seventh is a cute par three that is followed up with a par four and the 558 yard par five ninth that requires two well placed shots as the right hand side is guarded by a pond as you approach the green. The left side approach is definitely your safety valve.
The back nine opens up with a straight away 400 yard par four followed by a 197 par three with a very tricky undulated green that slopes from left to right. Walk away with a three here and be happy. Holes 12 - 16 will offer you both scenery & challenges coupled with a great test of golf. The twelfth is as good a par four that exists. The tee shot leads you into a narrow area that favors the left side, as this is a slight dogleg right. The second shot will let you know if you can thread the needle as the approach is a gem. Once on this bowl shaped green area you will look back and see the beauty that Mark Rathert carved here. The ride to the thirteenth tee brings you to the highest elevation on the course, where the San Pedro River Valley surrounds you - encased by three mountain ranges including Cochises' Stronghold - where that once heralded Indian and his tribe staked their claim. The 605 yard thirteenth will require position to the right center on both your drive and second shot, as you approach to this green. The fourteenth resembles hole # 12 but is a tad longer. The fifteenth hole is a scenic par three with a drop of 50 feet from teeing area to green. The sixteenth and seventeenth give you a slight breather as you approach the finest finishing hole in Southeastern Arizona - the par four split fairway 457 yard eighteenth hole. Water comes into play off the tee as well as on the second shot to this green that is also guarded by a bunker as you approach the apron.
San Pedro is tough but fair with exceptional playing surfaces and a range of tees (5) that will test golfers of all levels. You won't tire at San Pedro - enjoy the scenery and the natural desert like playing conditions that will soon be heralded throughout the area.

Nice track to play.
This course is usually in great shape except maybe during the hottest months of the summer. The greens are fantastic, fast and smooth with interesting contours. Cool layout with a variety of different holes and several sets of tees for different skill levels. This is just a very fun course to play. Its a nice escape from my usual stomping grounds in Tucson.
Not what we expected
The 1st hole looked good but soon went down hill. As we moved on we found that the fairways were poorly maintained with piles of dead grass left after mowing. At least those were mowed because some looked as bad as the rough. Quote of the day wad "How's it i have a bad lie in the middle of the fairway?". This came after he landed a shot in the middle of the fairway but looked like he was shorting from the rough. In addition to some fairways having clumps of dead grass or not being trimmed poor draining plaqued majority of the course. Several fairways and bunkers were mini swamps. Finally, some of the tee boxes were overgrown with weeds.
Best thing of the outing was the beverage service cart. The lady operating it was very pleasant every time she came around.
Excellent Course
One of my local favorites. Course is always in good condition, staff is very helpful and friendly.
San Pedro
Overall course was in great shape. Sand traps continue to be hard to play out of as the sand is hard as rocks. ONe trap looked like a back hoe had gone thru it leaving large clumps in middle of trap.
Great Course Hidden in small valley
This was my first time at San Pedro, it was perfect. I was with a friend that was always talking about your course and invited me to come down.
We spent some time at the driving range then putting range and then hit hole 1. It was more than I expected. I had never seen so many starting points at any golf course, we went green. As we continued our game and the many different layouts at each tee I realized someone had put a lot of thought into this course. Such an enjoyable afternoon. I will be back.
Nice course.
Wonderful course. We have played there many times and has always been a good experience.
Hidden gem
Had not played San Pedro. From tees to greens, it was in terrific condition. A pleasure to play it.
very enjoyable round even with wind, great greens, will be back for sure
Improved
I have played this course a dozen times in the last 5 years and it is in the best shape I have ever seen it. The fairways are green with few if any bare spots. The greens are very good and consistent.
Our 3-some had a great time, clubhouse staff was very friendly and helpful, cart girl was also the same and found us at the right times, pace of play was very good for us, about a 3 1/2 hour round
Below average
I don't know what these other people are talking about. This is far from 4 or 5 star course, I rate it at about 2 3/4 to 3 stars. The greens were very nice, the rest of the course not so much. It does have a few very nicely designed holes and many forgettable holes. What upset me the most was the very high reviews, I drove out from Tucson expecting a 4 to 5 star course. This was not the case. If you are passing through and want to play, sure why not, but I would not go out of my way to go play there.
Nice course
Fast but fair greens. Nice fairways and bunkers.
I do not know how a average golfer would play the 18 holes. Too tough!!
Good round on a perfect day
I play San Pedro frequently. The continue to invest and improve the course. The fairway bunker they are renovating on #1 will really make this a challenge for anyone who tends toward the right.
The multiple tee boxes allow any player to create a round as challenging as they want.
The restaurant and bar are one of the best in the county.
Great Course to Play
The overall layout of the course is excellent as challenges abound on every hole. Accuracy is a premium for good scoring as any scattered shots will cost you. Fairways and greens were in good condition. Areas around greens were firm which made chipping very challenging as balls tended to bounce forward instead of checking on green. Also when the course has wind the challenge factor rises considerably to maintain your shots accurately. Overall a course well worth playing.
san padro golf course
