Cheltenham Golf Club

In Melbourne we definitely take golf for granted. Within walking distance of Royal Melbourne, Sandringham GC and next door to Victoria golf club we have Cheltenham Golf club. It is an absolute get of a small 9 hole Public facility, that gives the public golfer a real taste of Melbourne sandbelt golf. Having played Victoria GC a few times (not to mention Sandy many times) I had driven past “Chelt” without giving it a thought.

The course features sweeping sand belt holes that would not look out of place at one of Melbourne’s private facilities. The greens are hard, smooth and true. The highlights are the 7th, 8th and 9th - sweeping undulating fairways leading up to nicely bunkered green complexes. Squint and you could almost feel that you are over the fence at Victoria GC.

Practice nets and excellent practice putting green. There is a chipping area behind the 9th.

There are different tees layed out for holes 10-18 if you wish to double up and play the nines twice.
