Woodlands Golf Club

Woodlands is one of the lesser known sandbelt courses in Melbourne, but it well and truly holds its own.

As you would expect it features tricky green complexes with huge bunkers and undulating greens. On the par threes, hit the green or face a bunker shot or a tough uphill chip. There are long par 4s and also several shorter par 4s where par is earned not given. The 4th is such an example. Easily drivable, but up and down chips from green sides to a narrow green are no guarantee of birdie. 12 and 13 are also another example where iron off the tee is a prudent play to avoid a big number.

The stretch of holes 7-10 are as difficult a set of holes on the sandbelt, and a true test of accuracy off the tee and with ones approaches.

Practice area is solid with a large driving range, two practice greens and warm up nets. Beautiful Clubrooms that look out over the 1st and 9th holes. Waiters were friendly and brought us out extra leftover meals.

Great course. Very helpful staff in the pro shop. Would play again without hesitation.
