Great course not enough people know about.
This very well taken care of course offers an extremely fair layout for all levels of golfer. Lots of difficult tee shots from the back tees to easier shots off the forward tee box. The greens are what separate this course from any other in central Florida. Smooth running, quick and lots of break are how this layout is described by the locals. The staff is very courteous and always greet you with a smile and ask if you need any assistance. Green fees are average or a touch below what neighboring courses charge.
Enjoyable
We are visiting from the UK we first played River Greens last year and feel that the course has improved since then
Have played twice and enjoyed the course very much also the food in the clubhouse is really good value for money
The pro shop is well stocked and the staff are friendly and will give you their best green fee price

I had not played this course for a few years,but I found the course to be in perfect condition,the best course that I have played for some time.

Tee time was later because of the locals. Greens poked great but wasn't as fast as they looked
Good Condition
Highlands county golf courses go through ups and downs. Currently River Greens is one of the top on the list. The greens rolled nice and there was grass on the fairways.
In great shape!
The course is in excellent condition. The fairways were full and lush while the greens are in great shape. It was obvious that they have been watering both.
A gem
Golf could have been better , course is beautiful, with very tricky, fast greens

The golf facility is above average by a mile very friendly staff including the lady starter !
great old course fun to play
Nice layout short but tree lined fairways . Greens and fairways as good as any in the area. If you in the area a must play.

course is a little narrow, and not very hard. Greens need some work. Overall great deal for the money
Just Ok but SLOW
The course was in Ok condition. This is a retirement community course and nobody is in any particular hurry to hit their next shot. I had read this in a previous review that was why I booked the earliest time Golf Now offered. I think it was around 8am? Still 5 + hrs. is too long for that time in the morning.
Also remember multiple holes are guarded by homes on both sides, so unless you can control that driver.... put it away.
Still it was a nice course.
4 hours to play 13 holes. Very slow play....

was very pleasantly surprised on the great quality og the new greens, kudos to the management, RG always had a great layout now hve the greens to go with that

the new greens are very nice, but slow.River Green is a nice course, but the houses are to close to the fairways on a lot of the holes
It's a hidden gem
Although the front nine greens were under repair, we were given the option tho play the back side twice, which we attempted but got rained out after playing nine. The course was in very nice condition. The staff was excellent and very friendly. We will definitely be back.
Hidden Gold Mine
This place is great, the greens roled true nice view of the nature and the wild life. Most of the fairways were very tight so if you missed the fairway the rough was going to get you. The skys opened up on me around the 8th hole, it rained hard for about 20 mintues. I told myself i was done for the day,cus it was in the latter part of the evening however this place drained very well and finished the round on a good note. If you are in the Avon Park area stop by and play this course you will love it. It's kinda hidden off the road but you will enjoy it.

The course is in great shape.
The course is getting in better shape each time I play it. Tee boxes and fairways in great shape. Just a couple of greens need some additional attention, but getting better.
