Playing through!!
I was driving to Texas and decided to stop and play a round, little did I know that this is a municipal course.
The staff was friendly and the pro shop had reasonably priced items on hand.
The range was plush and good targets to practice to.
Small range bucket was $5 - fair price I would say.
The fairways were nice and plush.
The greens were pretty good as well. maybe a bad spot here and there, but nothing crazy. The bunkers were not bad either.
The 6th hole is a short par 4 risk/reward that I reached with my hydrid .
I would play again if I'm ever in the area again.
Incredible practice facilities for a muni
Great track for a 9 hole municipal course. Great value as well. Well taken care of. Greens could use a little work, but they are currently better than or as good as some of the pricier courses in the region. Played on a Saturday, so pace was slow, but due to a tournament the first 9 was almost miserable due to slow play. Tournament ended as I made the turn, and the pace was actually enjoyable for the remainder of the round. Practice range with clearly visible yardage and targets chipping green complete with practice bunker, and a large practice putting green that putts very much like the course greens make this place an enjoyable and practical place to work on your game.. Staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. I will definitely play again when in the area and would recommend to anyone looking to work on their game or a new and fun track to play.
Excellent Greens - Great Value
The greens are really about the best I have found in the area. Quick with enough undulation to make them challenging. The bunkers need some work. They are not uniform - fluffy sand in most, but packed in others. That makes bunker shots more difficult for a weekend golfer.
I really like the course.
Surprised
Surprised how well maintained and course condition this course was in. You never know what your going to get with a municipality course. Is was in great shape and a fun course to play. Staff was very friendly as well. Would definitely play again.
Great value!
Gateway is in fantastic shape! I played this course with my son on my birthday and it was a perfect gift. Greens were a little slow, but in good shape. The tee boxes, fairways, rough, sand and fringe were all in phenomenal condition. This was a great value at $20 with cart!
Awesome!
I have never seen Gateway in this good of shape. The greens were a little slow, but consistent. The tee boxes, fairways. Fringe, rough, sand and greens were fantastic. I’ll be back! 18 for $20 and my kid plays free is a bargain!
Wow!! Exceeded my expectation
I have played this course maybe once or twice a year and I have to say the course is in spectacular shape. The greens are a little slow, but in good very good shape and consistent. The fairways, rough, sand, fringe, and tees boxes were immaculate. I don’t what to say except I really enjoyed Gateway and it was in the best condition I have ever seen.
Great value
Hot deal on golf now was under $30 on the weekend for 18 with cart. Incredible value for a very nice layout and good greens. Love the course and will definitely be back. Plenty of water and bunkers gives a nice challenge. Only downside is it a 9 hole track, so get creative and play from the front tees one side and the tips the other to get some different yardages. As a side note, this would be a great course to walk, even though I got a cart that day.
Great City Course
Gateway has a great layout. It’s a links style golf track that is easier when the wind is down. But when the wind is up it can get tricky real fast. The greens are good and can get pretty quick. Fairways are dormant during the winter but the course is well looked after all year long. They have new carts which are great. But it’s a fairly flat track so it’s a great walking course. Staff has always been very friendly. My friends and I like it a
lot!
Golf within 50 yards of the Interstate 65
It‘s really true. Green #3 is only 50 yards from I65, and no fence. So, don‘t hit it too long. Other than that, it‘s a good City course even it‘s not in the City. 9 holes per round. Layout isn‘t too challenging. Greens a good and fast, fairways and bunkers can be better, but ok. Golf carts are pretty new, even with USB port. I‘d come back when in the area. By then I hope that the garbage in the ponds, creeks and woods will be removed. It doesn‘t look appealing.
