Great golf value
Gateway GC provides a middle-handicap golfer with a fun opportunity play the game quickly and relatively cheaply on a well-kept 9-hole layout. Very casual setting. Fairways and greens are in good (not great) shape; par 3's and 4's can be very challenging, 5's not so much. Greens for the most part are smooth and putt true. Nice compact design. Traps need improvement - well groomed, but seem more like silt than sand. Great place to work on one's game.
Slow
If you go on a weekend, be prepared for a long round. I saw 2 groups of 5 and there wasn’t a course martial. Additionally, I feel the weekend brings out families…. That’s great to see the families together playing but it usually means a longer wait between holes and there seems to be an issue with understanding the concept of letting others play thru.
Excellent Greens - Nice Layout - 9 Holes
I love this course. The two Par 5 holes are somewhat short (I guess I could tee off from the black tees), but then there is a fairly long Par 4. These are almost always about the best greens anywhere: quick, nice sized, with nice subtle undulations making it challenging.
Great layout
The fairways and greens was very well maintained. The ruff and trees was maintained also.
Price isn’t worth the conditions
Greens had weeds all in them. The sand traps weren’t taken care of. There’s trash everywhere and the price for two people (9 holes) and a bucket of balls were $71 when last time it was around $45 and they are both during the week prices not even the weekend.
