Berkshire Valley has a scenic location in the Highlands region of northern New Jersey. It is known as one of best public golf courses in the area. The course is perched atop the ridge of Green Pond Mountain, providing a dramatic topography for a challenging round of golf. The front of the golf course was carefully carved from a hillside, featuring narrow fairways that place a premium on accuracy. The first five holes are particularly scenic as well as formidable. There are some open holes that play along the cliffs, subjecting them to the prevailing winds, one of these is the intimidating par-5 third. The Berkshire Valley golf course finishes with its signature hole. This hole can be deceiving since it has a generous fairway, but the second shot is uphill to a tough green.

great layout from the back tee.

There were a few area's that needed attention but over the course was in good condition.when playing from the black tee's you really get to test you're ability to drive the ball and use long irons as well. as far as the staff they were all super friendly i love playing there and will recommend it to anyone.

Great course with terrific views - get out and play it!! Greens are challenging.

I have played this course three times over the past 6 weeks and each time I enjoy it that much more.
The staff is great from check in to the beverage cart; they have always been very pleasant to talk to.
I have played from the Blue and the White tees and the course is just as fun and challenging from either tee. Don’t expect any gimmies on the green. The short puts are just as challenging as the long one – I love the greens they are great.
Well worth playing – have fun!

It really is in a valley!

So you check in and want to head to the range to warm up. You walk or ride to the range and when you get there what a sight. the down range is way up the mountain. The first five holes are in a straight line on a plateau that offers great views of the rest of the course. First par 3 is a monster, 258 from the tips. I'm happy I wasn't playing from there. Course is in good shape. Will try and get there at least 4 more times this season.

Good Course 45 Min from NYC

Course was in good shape and the staff very nice. Pace of play was good. only complaint (and this is for most of NJ courses I have played) is that you have to hit off of mats on the range. But overall a very nice course for the money.

Better than I ever seen

I have played this course about 10x in the past. It has always been challenging but being a county course, I guess, it only went so far. but since billy casper golf mgt. took over things have definitely improved. I found the course just the other day to be in beautiful shape. The greens are huge and not terribly fast but fast enough to mess you up. The same thing could be said about the rest of the course. It is definitely capable of eating your lunch. There's a lot of variety here and the scenery and wildlife is beautiful and entertaining. As a 15 handicap I followed the score card's recommendation by playing the white tees. I shot a 99 when last time I was there I posted an 88. Even so, I had a great time and will return again soon.

Terrible shape, not worth the money they are charging. Hitting out of the fairways was like hitting out of a bunker.

A lot of courses especially in New Jersey are just way to over priced. Berkshire is one of them. For some reason they decided to aerate them this Tuesday on the front nine. Of course you dont know that until you get there. Fairways were extremely sandy and the greens were not much to brag about. I used to enjoy playing here, but unti some changes happen they will not receive any more money from me. I do not recommend this course right now. Needs some serious improvement.

A great view from every part of the golf course.

From the drive up to the parking lot, to the 18th green, I had a great day at this golf course. Very very very scenic golf course. The clubhouse is small, but it seemed nice. Nice driving range. It's hard to tell how you are hitting at the range because you're hitting up a hill. I played the blue tees so it did not play too long. The tips are way back though. Keep your ball straight on the first couple of holes. Great golf course!!!!

Very nice aesthetics.

Has fantastic potential! Needs upkeep, especially on the tee boxes and greens. Fairways were very nice. Beautiful vistas throughout. Also saw some deer up close and personal on the 5th hole! Excellent bunker placement and not too much water.

Always the super scenic and beautiful place to play a round..

The condition of the greens, if significant, should be posted and informed along with any other important matters affecting the play.

The courtesy of the staff is excellent.

Course was extremely wet with t-boxes all palced at the red tee boxes

I was not notified that there were only nine holes open. I recommend that Golf.now updates course conditions. The course is very challenging when played under normal conditions.

suprer layuot ,can be very challenging,

great layout with challenges on all holes, can be scenic ,good conditions, pace of play can be improved if staff would encourge players to choose proper tees .still some rough edges like areas of gravel were cart paths should be,lack of rest rooms[porto jonhs]..range is fine , practice putt area large and convienient .
with a few refinements morris co could have itself the best county course in north jersey

Course was in very good condition

The course was in very good condition the only thing I would like to be different though is that the fall rates should be a little bit lower compared to the other courses in the area other than that everything was great
