Great facility
Perfect 9 hole course. Nice range. With two flags red/white and multiple tee boxes. You could really switch it up if you play it twice. I did not. 9 holes was perfect. Was home before anyone was awake.
Pace of Play exceeded 5 1/2 hours
7 minute, 8 minute apart tee times are a disgrace and a ripoff. Beware if you are playing on a Fri, Sat or Sun. Foursomes here rarely play in less than 15 minutes a hole, or 4 1/2 hr pace of play so play inevitably backs up. In past years I played here often. But I did not complete my last 2 rounds here because they were on track to take more than 5 1/2 hours. So I will avoid playing Fri Sat Sun here in future. Even though nearby county courses play slow on weekends, they are not as slow as Hyatt Hills and are better alternatives. Too bad for me since I live less than 2 miles away. Mon-Thur play is less crowded and course would rate 3 stars if they managed pace of play. I also experienced a ranger speaking rudely to me when about to use the chipping practice area, really bad for a hospitality business. Never experienced anything like it elsewhere.
OK once we got going
Course is in decent shape but this was a holiday and perhaps had greater use than normal and more players who play less often. Start times were delayed. The staff offered little to no help and were unaware of who had what times, so we and the other two groups waiting on first tee figured it out for ourselves. This needs to be fixed. Apart from making for a better experience, by becoming more efficient they could probably make more money.
Quality Nine
Very well maintained course. Pace of play was not fast, but wasn't slow...pretty much what should be expected for a Saturday evening in NJ. Good variety in the holes, a short par 3 and a long par 3, variety in the par 4s, and two par 5s that hover around the range to be reached in 2 shots. Recommend to anyone. As with a previous 9 hole course review I wrote, this course is better than at least one course ranked in a published top 25 list.
Nice round
Course looked beautiful. Heavy rain the night before left it VERY wet. Ball got plugged in the fairway once and in the rough more than once! Nice layout, like the 2 flag setup (in case you want to play 18). Wasn’t crowded so basically sent people out as they showed up. All together great round.
Finest Nines
One of the better 9 hole courses in NJ. Conditions were good throughout. Some fun hole especially the par 3 7th, all carry, but a safe bailout to the left.
Sunday Golf at HH.
First time playing the course, which by all counts was in very good conditions. However, the pace of play was very slow. Took over 2 1/2 hours to play 9 holes. Starting with the third hole, there was a very serous backup with 3 groups waiting on every hole thereafter. The group ahead of me on four holes took out a drone and started flying it over the course and taking pictures of their tee shots. Ridiculous and totally unsafe. Watched one golfer hit three balls over the water on a par three and failed all three times. Never in my 40 years of golf have I ever seen this. No ranger to police the pace of play or the safety of others.
Good day
Enjoyed the course with two different holes in case you want to play 18. Staff was very accommodating but I feel they slightly over booked the course. A lot of congestion once getting out.
3 Hours for 9 holes
They put way too many people out and since its only 9 holes, people making the turn are also mixing in
Nice course
This is a very nice course for a quick 9 holes. Very nice staff, course kept well and has a range with a nice pitch and putt to warm up. Nice bar / Resturant
They turned a fun course into an unbearable experience
I used to love playing Hyatt Hills. It was close to home, in decent shape and even though it is only 9 holes it was a fun round of golf. Now they don't give a rats behind about you there. They will literally jam as many people into the course as humanly possible and do not care if you play a 6 hour round. We had a reservation for 18 holes and when we made the turn, the pace of play just died. When I asked what happened they said that even though we had a reservation for 18 holes, that it did not guarantee that we would play each 9 consecutively. Instead we were told we had a reservation for the morning 9 and then a separate tee time for the back nine. Turns out that was just a complete lie and that only used it to try and explain why there were now two to three groups on every hole. You want to go play, go there. They will get you out, will take your money and then ridicule you when you question their money grabbing efforts. I won't go back.
Great for a 9 hole
Came here with family for a nice 9 hole outing
Hidden gem
Great course. Price is a little high, but course is always in great condition & you never feel rushed out there. Can be challenging for beginners & experienced golfers alike.
A bit expensive for 9 holes
Hyatt Hills is an extremely well maintained 9 hole course in the middle of suburbia. However, with all the choice of courses in the area, the $30 fee for 9 holes is a bit much. Even if you have the card, it only saves $5.
i live in town, but usually play other courses for a better rate. I just needed 9 holes because my grandson was visiting, and we didn't have much time. It was a slow nine though.
Going downhill fast
It's clear that since Casper took over the operation, things have degraded from the pace of play, conditions and customer service. The rough has become spotty due to less watering, bunkers are no longer raked, pace of play has slowed considerably as groups are sent out every seven minutes so the course backs up early. Looks like they just want to squeeze every buck out of this place that they can to the detriment of the golfers experience.
Wet mess, but nice course
Hyatt was quite wet when we played, but we had to get that last round of 2015 in. It was unfortunate that it was so wet, because the course itself was much better than I had heard in the past. Very nice fairways, nice and wide, plus one hole where you hit it over the lake to the green, which was great. GPS in the carts was a nice touch, I will be back.
Fun 9-hole course
Really not much to complain about here. The course was very well-maintained, the holes are varied enough to keep the course interesting and the pace wasn't bad. Some fun holes that force you to avoid sand or water and the greens are just tricky enough to make it a challenge.
