Colts Neck Golf Club
About
Colts Neck Golf Club is one of central New Jersey's most popular courses. The diverse course offers everything from Scottish-style bunkers to sparkling lakes. Tall golden fescue rough borders the fairways and the greens are large and undulating. The course is seemingly short at only 6,236 yards but it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's much more challenging than it appears. The layout finishes with two of its toughest holes. The 17th has a tough green fiercely guarded by out-of-bounds and the course saved the most difficult hole for last. This par 3 will test even the most seasoned golfers. In addition to the golf course, Colts Neck also has a 25-station driving range that stays open late. It's a great spot for getting in some practice after work.

Course conditions
Considering all the recent rain the course was in good condition. Not great weather again but the course was in great shape. Despite the weather we had a great golf day. Very challenging and picturesque course.
Colts Neck Golf Club
Course was in great shape but the pace of play was slow. They had a frost delay in the morning and never really caught up.
Has Potential
This is a prime example of a course that would thrive with the right grounds team. Layout is decent and the course in solid shape overall, but the greens are absolutely atrocious. Aesthetically they look fine, but they roll like concrete. Speedy, but not in a maintained way. Overall I like the course, but the greens leave you feeling somewhat frustrated. I will say I agree with the previous post too - the tree smack dab in front of the 13th green is absurd in a bad way. If they bring back these greens and chainsaw that tree, this course could be up to par with the other local gems that surround it.
Golf lover
Course was nice not sure with all the trees lining the course that it will be that easy to find balls in the near future with all the leaves on the ground but a very nice layout with the exception of hole number 13 it makes no sense that you could hit a perfect drive right down the middle and still not have a clear approach to the green why they put trees in front of the green makes no sense they should figure out a different form of hazard to put there not that you have to fly it over the 60 foot tall tree to get to a green or punch it under it
13th hole tops off a horrible course layout
This course has very little signage to direct you to the next hole, which quite often not close to each other. In general, it’s a really bad layout. To top it all off, the 13th hole is basically a mini-golf hole with obstacles blocking the green - yes, a gigantic tree completely blocking the green when you hit a perfect drive in the middle of the fairway. 25 years of golf and have never seen anything like this joke of a hole. The only decent thing about this course is the friendly staff and the relatively good speed on the greens.
Great course
The starter really does his job well. They were running ahead of schedule (rarity for nj golf recently) so he put us out a bit earlier than scheduled and then had the group behind us tee off on time. We didn’t see the group in front of us or behind us all round, which does wonders for how much you enjoy your round. This is at least the 3rd or 4th time I’ve played here where this particular starter (older gentleman) managed the groups well on hole 1 which led to a great day. Rangers are around to remind you to keep it moving if they stray from pace. I greatly Appreciate the pride they take here in course conditions and pace of play, because so many other courses are playing on temporary tee boxes (for full price obv) with horrible conditions up and down the course and pushing groups on top of each other. This is one of the top public courses you can play in Monmouth county.
First Time at CNGC
Course was in good shape, greens had been recently aerated, but were still puttable. Interesting layout, and a good course to walk. Cart girl was around regularly for refreshments. I played there again the next week, got a last minute tee time on a perfect day. Starter nice, rangers were out, joined a threesome and had a good time.
Great course in Monmouth County
I really enjoy playing here. Very nice course and it’s very relaxing. Would recommend everyone to try it..
Lots of potential
Very nice layout and scenery around the course. Just seems to have been beaten up by the summer play. Pace was slow, but not the courses fault. Would like to see the tee boxes cleaned up and weeds removed from fairways on some holes. Overall, worth going back to play again.
I was surprise too see that the putting green was in a very bad condition for some holes.
