Colts Neck Golf Club
About
Colts Neck Golf Club is one of central New Jersey's most popular courses. The diverse course offers everything from Scottish-style bunkers to sparkling lakes. Tall golden fescue rough borders the fairways and the greens are large and undulating. The course is seemingly short at only 6,236 yards but it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's much more challenging than it appears. The layout finishes with two of its toughest holes. The 17th has a tough green fiercely guarded by out-of-bounds and the course saved the most difficult hole for last. This par 3 will test even the most seasoned golfers. In addition to the golf course, Colts Neck also has a 25-station driving range that stays open late. It's a great spot for getting in some practice after work.

Say it ain't so
Definitely no where near one of the top courses in NJ. Condition is average, nothing special about the routing, and the service is sub par! Think it over a second time previous raters, better yet play some of the pther real top courses then play it again,
Greens were not kept up with. Course was average at best. For the money charged for a round here, during winter golf, there are others that are way better.
Great staff, great conditions for time of year
Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Great conditions, especially this time of year.
Winter Golf
Never fun at 38゚ and 14 mile an hour winds but the course was excellent.
Nice Layout, Well Manicured
Colts Neck was at its best on a chilly sun drenched late November afternoon. At 6300 from the tips, the course isn’t particularly intimidating on paper, but a closer look tells a different story.
3 par 5’s on the front 9 mean par on the outbound leg is 37, two of those par 5’s clock in at 560+. The par 4’s are short, but greens are small, fast and protected by deep bunkers. The virtually treeless front 9 is protected by large fairway bunkers, while high grass and marsh lie in wait for wayward swings.
The physical character changes on the back and the layout is more parkland, with narrow fairways lined with tall trees. It also features 4 par 3’s, two of which are 225+ yard monsters.
Stow your driver on most of the par 4’s, they’re short and tempting, but trouble lurks and bad decisions are punished. This course demands discipline, but opportunities present themselves on the two short par 5’s and two short par 3’s.
Colts Neck used to private and it shows. The tee boxes and fairways are manicured, greens are fast and true if a little chewed up from traffic.
Overall a very civilized golfing experience even if the whole place seems a bit full of itself.
The gentleman in the pro shop was pleasant if somewhat condescending. The ranger had a sour attitude, urging us on somewhat rudely despite the fact that we were waiting for the foursome ahead on virtually every hole. But what would crusty old clubs be without crusty old Rangers? It did not detract from a good day of golf.
great course
always a favorite...... a good mixture of different hole layouts,, staff is very friendly,,, very enjoyable rounds of golf here
Good and challenging course
I was pleasantly surprised to find this challenging but fair golf course. I really like the layout, it demands full focus on the tees. A lot of them requires enough carry to pass fescues and tall grasses. The layout is nice and interesting and will keep you on your toes until the end. Especially on the 18th, as it requires 230+ yards carry to green and avoid water! I played the tips (blue tees). You need a good long iron shots to play the par 3s well. I will play here again.
I booked this online for a 1;20 PM tee time for $50 for green fees and cart. The day after I booked it the course called me and said it was a mistake and we couldn't go out until 1:39, this was a concern because sundown is around 4:50 . When I got to the course they charged us $63 each which I argued about but they said to take it up with Golf Now. On the course we could not purchase alcohol because we were not members. We only got 16 holes in as it got too dark to play. Not a good experience!
Colts Neck
I thought the course was in good condition. It was an enjoyable round. I would recommend it, to friends.
