Colts Neck Golf Club is one of central New Jersey's most popular courses. The diverse course offers everything from Scottish-style bunkers to sparkling lakes. Tall golden fescue rough borders the fairways and the greens are large and undulating. The course is seemingly short at only 6,236 yards but it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's much more challenging than it appears. The layout finishes with two of its toughest holes. The 17th has a tough green fiercely guarded by out-of-bounds and the course saved the most difficult hole for last. This par 3 will test even the most seasoned golfers. In addition to the golf course, Colts Neck also has a 25-station driving range that stays open late. It's a great spot for getting in some practice after work.

Nice layout for average golfer

Not a long course but accuracy is very important as there is some nasty British Open rough which will shallow balls. If you do find it, good luck with hitting it back to the fairway. We were the last group of the day but greens rolled well even after heavy play. I will be back a second time now that I know my way around. The two staff guys were very cordial even though we pulled in at dark and took time to clean the clubs professionally. Club members should be proud of the course, its care and staff.

course was well maintained with the exception of the greens which were littered with unrepaired divots

I was charged $10 more at the proshop for the round than what I was quoted online

Very well maintained

Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens are all in great condition. Greens are in excellent shape and putt true. Course is short overall, with a few longer, challeging holes. Generally play there a few times a year and it has always been in "playable" condition. Staff is always friendly. Driving range a plus (except for the matts). Overall, a nice facility and one worth playing.

NIce layout. Short but challenging.

Course was in good shape with the exception of 2 holes where the greens were in poor shape. Pace of play was slow due to group in front of us. Did not see a ranger on the course the entire day. Wouldn't play if had to pay the posted rates but with Golfnow discount the price was affordable.

Course in poor shape

For what they want to play this course, I was disappointed. Not very challenging, course was in poor condition. Water was available at certain holes thankfully, as we saw the cart girl once between 4 and 5. No halfway house to get even a hotdog at turn, 9 goes straight to 10 away from clubhouse.

Short from the white tees but nice greens

Nice course. Overpriced but with GolfNow the price was fair.
Greens in very nice shape & rolled true. Would not recommend at $80 but for $40 it was a good value

Great course!

Nice mix of hole layouts. Some holes offer great risk/reward opportunities. Fescue grass at full height making stray shots impossible to find- keep it your fairway! Tee boxes were a little beat up. Rarely a level stance. Greens were well manicured despite the fact that they were riddled with plug marks. PLEASE fix your ball marks!!! Staff very friendly. Play later in the day when the rates drop. I love the course, but not at $100.

Not a push over!

For those of you that simply look at the length and think that you'll run this one over, look again. From the back tees the course measures just under 6300 yards. However, the rough is "Open" rough, high heather up to your waist, best not to have to hit from it and good luck in finding it if you do hit into it. No. 5 is a relatively short par 4 but with a forced carry ,a true test for shorter hitters. But if you're long you can drive the green. No.6 is a long par 5, good luck in reaching in two or even three if you're not long. No. 13 is a "strange" hole with a large tree protecting the front right of the green. If your right, you must keep it low or risk going over the green on your approach. The 12th hole is a relatively long par 3 from the back (224 yds.) that is you're too far right, you are in waist high grass. The 16th is another forced carry on a relatively short par three (about 165 from the back tees)-don't be right. No 18 is a par 3 with water all along the left, right of the green is the deep stuff again and you'll be pitching up to the green, blindly. All in all the course is in good shape, pace of play is monitored only occasionly. They have a practice range. We did not see a cart girl doing the entire round and it was hot (100 deg F). We did find water to be adequately spaced, though. Price wise you can do better in Monmouth County NJ, but for the money you get what you pay for.

A challenging course and a great value at the discounted rate of $59 for the weekend.

The back tees provide the length desired by intermediate level golfers. Pace of play was excellent. Our foursome had a great time. We'll definitely play this course again.

Colts neck golf

the course was in great shape. Was backed up about 25min and the person checking me in didn't know to give me tokens for my range balls and just sent us out to the range. other than that I look foreward to golfing there again.

Great Course and good condition

Overall, I'm satisfied with the course.

Because of the rain, it was cart path only which wasn't fun since I'm unable to hit it near the cart path.

Great Value in Monmouth Co.

Fast Greens and very challenging for a course of its length and at fair price. I played twice in a week and will go back again. Didn't love playing cartpath only on 6/14 but understand with all the rain. Reminds me of Blue Heron Pines in Egg Harbor.

Disgrace to the Game..

This course is very well maintained. Unfortunately if your not a member they treat you like dirt. I was once told during a 100 degree day we could not even bring a water bottle on the course. A few of us were set to play as a threesome and a single. The starter made the single player park his cart and ride with someone he had never met before even though the clubhouse told him they had more than enough carts available. We've also once had a starter make us wait at the first tee with two empty holes in front of us for 10 minutes and for no reason. This course will almost guarantee you a 5 hour round, and I promise you they know very well who has the golf now, good priced tee times and will treat you differently.
