Good round at Gambler RIdge
Played in 100 degree weather and their was cold water on many of the holes.
Tee boxes can use work, but fairways were well maintained and green considering the lack of water.
You can't be the price to play along with a cart.
For walkers its even better.

Good time
Fun layout. For wat the heat is, the course is actually well watered n grass is great. Play here every 2 weeks, fun times.

Great Starter and Fairways were very nice
Enjoyed the friendly starter "Blades"and the course was in pretty good shape considering how hot it has been...with very little rain...

You get what you pay for
Probably a great course for new golfers or high handicappers. No real complaints other than it was not what I expected. I drove a long way to get to this course because I never played it before. I will not be returning because I have played way too many courses and this one is not worth the trip. If you want to get in an inexpensive round of golf with a great group of people and friendly staff then this is the place for you but if you are looking for a hidden gem then this place is not for you.

Save your time and money
This was the worst round of golf I have ever played… the tee sheet was so over booked to the point that my 8:52 tee time didn’t get on the first tee until around 9:45. It took us over three and a half hours to play 9 holes. We were so fed up that we left after the 9th. I’m not sure why there was such a long backup considering the tee boxes are completely filled with crabgrass and the rough is completely burnt to a crisp. Not being allowed to drive on any fairway also made zero sense even tho we were allowed to scatter the carts.
You’re better off making a golf course in your backyard and playing that.
The one nice part of the course was the greens, they were a bit slow but they rolled quite nicely.

Starter was not very friendly
Yes it is not easy to get a not friendly starter review but this course achieved it….
Not the Best Experience
1. Starter was not very friendly.
2. Rental Clubs were horrendous. They were not cleaned. They were very old. They should have been gratis bec of their conditions.
3. Tee Boxes poorly maintained.
4. Greens had many many divets. Way more than any other course I have played.
5. Fairways in nice shape.

Get what you pay for
5 1/2 hour rounds, lots or dry and dead patches, not worth the time

Unreasonable starter
I play this course often even through the winter and always enjoyed the experience from the friendly staff from check in to starters . Always accommodating getting us out quick and on time.. often earlier if no one is at the the tee box . However because of an unreasonable starter Jim quigly , a 20 minute backlog was created at the 1st tee. Mind you the 10th tee box (back nine ) had no one playing it for the half hour we were there , Jim would not let any groups go out on the 10h to eliminate the backlog getting the groups off on time! When asked no reasonable explanation.could be given . Normally I wouldn’t leave a negative comment regarding anyone but this was my 2nd encounter with the same starter. He’s got the clip board , he has the authority and he’s not adjusting anything for anyone to keep the flow of course management moving Nicky . Will not be playing thursdays anymore . Good job Jim !
Hi strajo, Thank you for playing Gambler Ridge GC on a regular basis and the 4-star review considering you did not have a great experience. I apologize for the experience that you had last Thursday. I take these reviews very seriously especially when a staff member is singled out. I consider Jim to be one of our best workers here. Jim and the rest of the staff are told when they can and cannot send players off on opposite nines. We have a large league that shotguns every Thursday which normally works out well for the afternoon golfers since the entire course clears early. The superintendent knows that every golfer is going off on one nine, so he has time to work on the opposite 9 without causing issues for paying customers. This is especially important now because of the heatwave that we have been in for a while.
This does not excuse the fact that you were delayed. I found out that the morning league was having playoffs, and some went into extra holes backing up the front nine. This should have not been the case, so I thank you for bringing this to our attention. The tee times should have been blocked later to prevent this from happening. I will be blocking more in the future to hopefully prevent this especially during playoff times.

Good day, one bad experience
Had an early morning tee time with a playing partner who plays this course 4 times a week. Played 18, the starter invited us to play the back 9 again. We’d spent over $60 in food and beverage on the day, tipped very generously to everyone we came in contact with. All in all gave the course over $200 with paying for our rounds, buying food, drinks, a couple bags of their “gently used balls” in one day. After playing that 9, we went inside for a hot dog and beer, came out and a different starter was there but said that there was hardly anyone on the front 9 and we could continue playing if we’d like. We offered to go into the pro shop and pay at this point but he told us to just go ahead as he had seen we’ve been spending money all day and there were no tee times booked at that point in the afternoon (had been raining on and off all day, were maybe 10-15 cars in the parking lot at the time). We get to the second hole to be met by a ranger and someone id presume to be a manager and told we were to go in and pay the “replay rate” or leave. We were the only people on the course repairing divots and ball marks, course was empty relatively empty, was the money we spent elsewhere at the course not good enough? Get your staff on the same page. We offered to pay, we were told to go ahead. Don’t come to the second hole, park your carts in front of us to try and block us off and demand money we’d already offered. Just a poor ending to what was a pretty great day to that point.
