Course is much more friendlier that they took a lot of trees down to do it . The new owners are really trying to do a good job. I recommend coming to see it for yourself.
Some Changes at Gambler Ridge
The Friendly Starter gave me an overview of the changes you will see starting on Hole 1. All the trees that lined the left side of the fairway were removed which is good news for all you left hookers. As you move through your round, you will notice many more tree removals along the way which naturally speed up the pace of play. Additionally there are many landscaping projects going on especially around the clubhouse. It’s obvious they are putting some money into the property to make it more attractive than in prior years. Also, the tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in nice condition for a course that’s open all year and gets alot of public play. The staff was super friendly and the Bar and Grill is always good and can host a large crowd. All good to see at Gambler Ridge.
Fun day
Place is shaping up nicely. They removed a lot of trees greens are a little faster always enjoy playing here.
New Owner
There's a new owner of Gamblers Ridge. Apparently he doesn't like trees He has cut down a lot of trees. Holes #1,2,8,9,13 and 18 all have had trees removed. They removed the trees at the dogleg par 5 on #8, now players can cut the corner out. He has also improved drainage on some of the holes. I guess the thought was to improve pace of play. Also the fairways and green are running faster the before. I like the improvements. I've been playing the course for 20 years now and enjoy the course. So far all of the improvements have been favorable. Look forward to playing again.
Decent
The Ridge is as advertised. Blue collar golf spot that is kept up and presented well. If your looking for bells and whistles maybe not a first choice spot. Having that said it also wont leave you with a bad taste or stress your wallet. A great 2nd choice on golf now when you cant find your Tee time at your first choice-
Greens slightly inconsistent, Tee boxes fair condition, fairways same- will improve with spring/summer golf-
Overall not a bad place for a low key round.
sold
course was recently sold . New owners are doing a lot of work to the course. hopes are high
Fun course that is well maintained. .
The course has many improvements underway. Conditions were great and will continue to improve.
New Owner
Course is under new management and ownership is clearly hands on!! Lots of changes already and I can only salivate regarding future improvements. This is without a doubt the best value in Nj right now.
New Ownership
Drive an hour and a half to play here during the winter months. Already I see improvements to conditions on and around the green. I’m hopeful to run into the new owners so I can extol the virtues of hiring dogs to chase away the geese 🪿. My next move would be purging any left over muppets and I’m sure they will when the find a weekend employee that’s professional and knowledgeable regarding Golf. Highly recommend this course during the summer
Like a My home
This golf course is the friendliest and most friendly in the US. All the staff are like family and the food is delicious. It took us 2 hours and 30 minutes to get there but we were satisfied. The course is varied and has a continental style. I will go here often and always miss it.
