Greens just aerated 4/28/14

I arrived at the course 30 minutes early and discovered they had just aerated all of the greens. Fairways and tee boxes are in good condition and carts were allowed on course. The restaurant and half-way house were closed today. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. I practiced at their driving range for 10 minutes and then allowed to go out as a single. I completed the round in 2+45.
I enjoy this course because: I've played it once before and it's all about ball placement.

Skyview the hidden gem

As always I love this course don't be fooled by the length there are some really tough holes out there. I played this with snow still on the ground in spots so not much to review. But as always there greens are kept amazing they roll great. And it will test your patience threw out the Round.

Rough

Good course, very difficult for the average player, greens still covered in snow but what can you honestly expect for March golf after a particularly harsh winter. Some holes (especially #2) feel like the go on for miles, but others at a different time of the year would be very picturesque

First-time players need local knowledge and should try to pair with someone who knows the course.

A great deal of elevation change and some holes are blind shots. Accurate shots, target golf are a must to be successful. The course was overall very well maintained and pace of play very good.

Always fun to play Skyview.

Skyview is a well run operation. They often try to engage members and the public alike though their emails. The course is fun to play with a variety of personality in the holes. The two par fives on the front reek havoc for some. Especially the fourth hole. My playing partners whine about four every time. I view it as quite a challenge and actually appreciate the precision and strategy required. Waiting for you at the end of the fairway is one of the most spectacular views in NJ. Overall a good play.

Great condition for this time of year

I normally find Sky View pricey but at this late part of the year feel the prices work well. Conditions are great. Some bear and deer sights as well.

Some specatulare views with one of the weirdest holes in NJ

Some great vistas at this club just off route 15 in Sparta, Sussex County. Nice downhill par 4 1st hole. The 4th hole is a nearly impossible 520yr par 5. Blind uphill shot to a dogleg left down a cliff to the green.(if you don't lose a ball or two consider it a success). Back nine plays a bit easier than the front. Gave it 4 stars with a discount of 38 per golfer, otherwise a three star course.Overall worth a trip to experience this course at least once.

nice course, great views

The greens were in very good shape, smooth roll, average speed. fairways good shape. The tees need attention! The course was wide open, we let a single through and played at a slow pace, no one behind us or in front.

love this course

The course offers some unusual and difficult holes. The greens were quite slow but I believe they were plugged recently and normally they are much faster.

Superb course. Great view.

Excellent condition, challenging layout, fast green PLUS the unique grand view.

However...

Staff courtesy is lacking.
He was busy telling me what I shouldn't do instead of what I could enjoy.

I will be nervous to recommend the course to others.

Fun course. A lot of blind shots.

Very fun course. Fourth hole was interesting. Back side plays much easier than the front. Would definitely recommend especially if you can get a Hot Deal tee time.

Good Morning

For me there were to many blind fairways, I actually ended up playing an incorrect fairway from the tee only because I couldn't see the green after the second shot on the par 5. The greens were perferated so I'll hold opinion on them but the fairways were well groomed. All in all it's not really made for a beginner or a novice, you need to know what your doing and even at that it will take some adjusting to. Three are a lot of drop areas on way to many fairways. I only lost 2 balls but I can see a beginner running out of them by the 9th hole. The course is carved out of mountain which makes it very interesting and not so easy to play.

Challenging for somone playing there for the first time

I was little annoyed playing. I was sent out by myself because the twosome that booked the same tee time didn't show up. So, I was behind a foursome that were fairly slow. I had to wait a few minutes for every shot. Also, I had a foursome behind me that was constantly hitting up on me. Which add to my annoyance.

SkyView is a great course to play. Very beautiful and scenic. The front 9 is challenging, especially, for first time playing there. A lot of blind shots. The signature hole (hole 4) is awesome.

I am planning to play this course again. Hopefully, I can find some golf buddies willing pay the high price for a round there.

Overall great. Would overall recommend. Just don't like certain holes on the front 9.

Overall great. Would recommend. Just don't like certain holes on the front 9 - a lot of blind shots, which can be dangerous on a somewhat crowded course. I wish the tee boxes were more of a flat surface. On back 9 seems a little dangerous how holes are closely situated and face one other but nothing can really be done about that. Just be watchful of errant shots. On 18 there are a lot of range balls on the right side of the fairway. Watch your head if you drive one up that side. We did get caught behind a foursome that were playing tees that were inappropriate for them and, despite telling us they would pick up their pace on two occasions, they did not. Don't know if any staff members spoke with them. Course otherwise well maintained. Staff very friendly. Clubhouse nice. Practice facilities nice. Very good value. Would play again.
