No ranger to keep the pace of play. Players seen hitting more than one ball at a time.
Really poor course conditions
We played at 6am, the second off the tee. We waited at least 4 minutes at every hole for the group in front of us, who had carts. We were walking. Perhaps the started can shoot them off on the back 9 first to alleviate this next time.
The first 3 holes we were followed by an employee using a leaf blower on each of the tees, which I’ve never seen before during rounds being played. There were large sections of the fairways that were cordoned off bc of mud, holes and plain awful surfaces. The tee boxes were in awful condition, either completely bare or looked like they hadn’t been trimmed in over a month.
All this aside, perhaps the craziest thing was on the 5th hole par 3. After waiting a few minutes for the group ahead to finish, we step up to the tee box only to look down at the green and employee was changing the flag location! In the middle of the round! I’ve literally never seen anything like it. Overall poor course experience and I won’t be going back.
Slowest round of the Year
Zero pace of play for a 6:40 tee time. Took 3 hour 45 to play 13 holes. Walked off afterwards. First post COVID round that took forever.
Good Course
Easy and fun course. Very walkable. Theres alot of bugs flying around hole 8 and 14. Greens are kept well in the front 9 but not so much in the back 9. Staff are friendly.
Highly recommend
A challenging course with many blind approaches & undulating fareways. If you're not aware of the course's tricks it can catch an unfamiliar player off base. Highly worth playing. Every hole has its own challenges & is very different from the one before. Course conditions are good, staff very courteous. If you haven't played it, what are you waiting for??
Excellent course and great value!
Shot the best round of my life and finished under 4 1/2 hours! Highly recommend as I’ll be returning frequently!
Douglaston GC
Pro Shop/Starter got us out before our 4:00 tee time, which was appreciated and we did get all 18 holes in in good light which was great. It’s a fun hilly layout with maybe one or two too many par 3’s but be that as it may - was an enjoyable day of golf. The greens were very soft and a bit bumpy which led to some adventures in putting but still a fun little track.
Great condition!!
Great condition and pace of play was good. Staff is always great!
Golfing in times of CoVid
Course is short but hilly and narrow with many blind shots.
Tee times were spaced out to 12 minutes which kept the pace of play good (it isn't always that way). Starter checked you in 15 minutes prior to tee time. Pro Shop set up with plexiglass and credit card reader for no touch. Masks are wore til you get to first tee, in ProSop and Snack bar.
Course in pretty good shape .. still were spots from the 3 inches of rain Friday.
Great time.
This was my first time playing in a couple of years. I was ready to shake the rust off and get out there. The the starter was very friendly and accommodating. I played as a single and the guys I was paired up with were great. The course was pretty well keep. Greens run a little slow but the course has some nice slopes and challenges for all type golfers. The price was great for an 18 hole course. The only downfall was the pace of play slowed drastically on the back nine. But with a 4:36 pm tee time we were still able to finish the round before sundown(in July) . But we were the last group to do so. So... overall this is a course that I would love to play again. Always nice to find a new place.
