Ravenwood Golf Course
About
Ravenwood Golf Club is situated in the Finger Lakes region in western New York. It's one of the most popular public championship courses in the Rochester region. Robin Nelson designed the course in 2002. He utilized the gently undulating landscape to seamlessly connect the holes to one another so that the whole golf course has a natural flow. The front nine is gentler than the back, where the par 3s present formidable tests. The water hazards on the back are particularly challenging. The golf course finishes with one of its most memorable holes. Ravenwood's par-5 18th has a green that's tucked into the woods with the hill behind it forming a natural amphitheater. A challenging array of seven strategically placed bunkers guards the green and approach area.

Course is in pretty good shape for a late August round. Greens could be in better shape.

This course lacks Nice Greens and upkeep around greens
This course has the potential to be a nice risk and reward course on a beautiful piece of land. The major issue in the greens. They have lots of spots and inconsistence. Grain IS front to back on every green, but LOTS of bumps from pebbles and ball marks. Im guessing the pebbles are from the traps, but they are everywhere. They are below average speed, meaning slow. Most every put is very straight, not much break to be found. And on a busy late summer Friday the Greens were not cut or rolled. It kills the value of the course bc I shot a great round tee to green and was very difficult to make any putts because of bouncing balls. If the greens were fixed Ravenwood would be one of the best courses in Western NY and worth the Money they ask for.
Beautiful views and private course like conditions!
A wonderful golf experience... Top to bottom, from the practice facility to the course itself.. Greens were phenomenal, fairways were beautiful and the 5 sets of tee boxes able you to play to your ability...definite course to add to your rotation!
Nice course, poor greens.
The course was in great conditions but the green were very spotty and were very grainy, which putting very inconsistent.
Excellent!
Ravenwood is one of the best public courses in the Finger Lakes region. Very friendly staff, course condition was excellent. GPS in the carts is very accurate and thorough. Great experience!
great course... greens are 'tired' need attention
I paid $43 for the round on Golf Now.. and it showed a 17% savings.. fo a 3:09 T time.. I was paired up with a two-some who had just walked into the pro shop at the same time as me, and they paid $45 (incl. cart) for the same T time. I am not sure where my 17% savings is...?
The course, though, was fantastic (at any price). The fairways were good, the fescue was 'sneaky', and the sand traps were nice and fluffy. The greens, though, were worn and bumpy and not cut very short. they were slow... much slower than the practice green at the first T. I really enjoy this course, and will definitely play it again. I think I just hit a bad day for the grounds crew.
Amazing course.., but
This course is amazing, however there was no starter or ranger. There was no one at the starter's box to send us off, so we just went off at our scheduled time (I kept my receipt on me incase).
There was no group in front of us, Some how though a two-some showed up in front of us out of nowhere. Might have jumped in from another hole. So then they caught up to a 3-some in front of them, then everything was slow'ed. Waited 10-15 minutes on ever single shot from there on. Again, no one was in front of us and the two just appeared on a hole.
No ranger or starter to handle the situation, disappointing for an elite course. It ruined the round.
Very nice layout. Highly recommend
Only down side to my experience was that they had an outing before I played and the players from the outing abused the greens. Never fixed ball marks, dragged their spikes across the greens.
Ravenwood was a fun afternoon.
We played Ravenwood on Sunday afternoon on July 21, 2013. The course was in nice shape, especially considering all of the rain that we have received. All of the fairways were very soft so no runout on your shots and potentially large divots when you hit from them. The greens were also soft and quite slow. Their marshals were very helpful in assisting us in playing through a much slower group. We had a wonderful time and I can recommend Ravenwood strongly when you are in the Rochester area.
good golf course
fair ways are good, green not so good. overall good golf course in Rochester.
one of the best tracks in all of upstate new york.
golf now has the best deals on golf that there is. played this awesome course in late afternoon for $24. one of the best deals you can find anywhere. if you have never played it you have to make a point and do it.
Nice open track
There is not much water and this course is very playable. The drainage is exceptional and plays well even on a wet day. I enjoyed the digital cart GPS and scorecard. I will definitely be out there soon.
Very nice course.
We had purchased a few days early and unfortunately the weather turned on us. Cold, windy and a bit of drizzle when we started. Course was in good shape. Greens were fast with some subtle breaks. Wind didn't help.
Fair, challenging course. Fairly open - real trouble when the wind started howling and couple balls lost in the deep grass - just couldn't find them. On a nice day would be a real nice course to play. Don't know about the full price - but totally worth playing if you get a nice deal.
Excellent course
The nicest public course in the area. Got a 9:30 Sunday tee time for 50% off the regular price. Course was in great shape and very challenging.
Great layout. GPS on carts was a nice touch
Very well laid out course, friendly staff/cart girl, conditions were excellent and pace of play flowed smoothly
Great Course
Enjoyed playing course very much and looking forward to playing it again soon.
May be my new favorite in NY!
Wonderful condition, beautiful sand, and nice greens. Even a high handycapper could play and enjoy! (that's me) Sank an impossible putt, from off the green on the 2nd hole!
Beautiful Course
Course was absolutely fantastic! Great layout! Some tough holes but very golfer freindly. Multiple tees for players of all skill levels. Beautifully set par 3's along the course that will challenge you depending on wind and length of tee you chose. My first time there was yesterday and I'd definitely go back everytime I'm back in the area.
Great layout & always in great shape. Greens roll true!
Most private country clubs in the area don't do it as well as Ravenwood! Maintenance staff always keeping the place in superb condition. Ravenwood is in better shape already in April than most places will ever be at any time in the summer! Staff is friendly and professional.
