My favorite hole ! Photo submitted by Golfworld on 10/28/2019
Mill pond
Play here at least 10 times a year. Yesterday for some reason was incredibly slow ,had a guy come back to a tee off hole where me and my son where waiting and says it’s slow anyway,i said to him you must be playing for a lot of money and he’s hitting from the blues ,absolutely wanted to you no what but i kept my cool plus he was terrible for someone hitting from the blues.Hopefully what have to deal with anything like this again .
5hr round
Tee boxes chewed up
Fairways excellent
Greens excellent
Rough or first cut could be nicer
Fairway bunkers hard as a rock and filled to the brim w rocks
Greenside bunkers great
Worth $64 w cart hot deals
Anything more would be a lot for such a slow round. I think they r 8 min tee times.
Nice links course
Really enjoyed playing this course for my 2nd time. Fun layout with reachable greens from white tees for a 20+ HCP such as myself. The tee boxes could be mowed a bit tighter as the grass interferes with low teed balls. Also, pace of play was real slow. Kid behind us kept hitting up impatiently even after asking him to hold back... guess that's Suffolk County for you!
Pace of play
Could be a slam dunk 5 star if pace of play were more closely monitored. Sitting on tee box on 7, could see the logjam from two groups ahead bunched up on 8. With the first group teeing off with the green on 8 completely empty. Then at the turn on 10 no shocker it was a two group wait. A bit more ranger intervention would have made things go smoother
First review
was able to actually walk up in the afternoon to secure a tee time although I was still charged the reservation fee so next time I will call. Course was great and the greens were perfect . Only complaint was the amount of stones and rocks in the sand trap/bunkers. Also could use a few ball washers on the course as a courtesy. Will be back.ex
Saturday at Mill Pond
Staff was good. Course was tight. Pace of play was slow, needed to see more rangers. Course was in descent condition.
Slow Pace
We started 25 mins behind schedule and took us 5 hrs and 10 mins to finish. I understand it was Friday afternoon before the long weekend but over 5 hrs to complete a round is not cool. Part of the problem is 8 mins tee time as opposed to 10 mins like every other courses. We will give it another chance because we like the course layout and its condition but maybe not on Friday afternoon.
Good course but slow pace
Too many hackers. Nobody answers front desk phone. Cart path have too many pot holes
Golf with buddies
Fun time. Fairways open and we’ll kept. Greens larva and challenging. Water and sand add another interesting layer
Millpond Golf Club, Medford NY
Millpond is a wonderful links style course that has some very challenging holes and is a fun course to play. The course was in very good condition and the fescue is not quite so scary as it will be when it grows in. I found the greens to be fast and maybe a bit too firm. It was difficult and frustrating to find a well struck iron with a nice high ball flight would land the green and run off into the rough around the green. This was prevalent among my foursome and it made for way too many long putts because the greens would not hold the ball. Still, it is a great course and should challenge any level of players.
Worst day of golf in a long time
Had a 3:12pm reservation. Teed off 20/25 minutes late. When we got on the 1st green, there were 3 groups on the 2nd tee. The whole front nine there were 1 or 2 groups ahead of us waiting to tee off. The front nine took us 2 houses and 50 minutes to complete. We were so disgusted at that point that we decided to quit after 9 holes, even though we paid for 18. We figured we would stop in the clubhouse for a beer. The building was closed and locked up at 6:30pm. I’ve played at Mill Pond approximately 10/15 times in my life and I don’t know where this came from. Will never be back.
