Fun track
While it’s a relatively short course it still offers plenty of challenges for the average golfer you need to be straight rather than long as the fescue will eat up your errant shots I play here a few times during the season and always enjoy the track

Great course, but.....
Play here somewhat frequently. Always in great shape and enjoyable. Became a bit worrisome this week as the staff was encouraging sharing carts with non-family members. When pressed, was able to pay a second cart fee ($18) and permitted to ride alone, as did my 3 playing mates. Seems a bit too soon in this age of social distancing. Did see many others sharing carts and pretty obvious they were not from the same household. Still can’t touch flagsticks and can’t rake bunkers, but sitting shoulder to shoulder is safe ? Not sure of legality, but very sure that it’s reckless. Thoughts ?

Great place - Little “Confusing”
Overall place is beautiful and will definitely like to play again. One issue had to do with carts and having a 4th person (that we didn’t know) ride with one of us. We didn’t want that because of Covid-19 but they eventually took care of it. One of us got our own cart and the other two rode together.
The course was very nice but I dont know what it was. Maybe the people in front/behind us but it was just very chaotic in terms of who was where and where they were shooting. There were people all over the course shooting every which way. It was safe but a lot of waiting for people to clear.
We will definitely play again,

Great Course
Great linked style course. Very tough grass if youre off fairway. But well manucured, great layout and overall very good course. Sometime gets a little jammed up though so you could be waiting on a few holes.

Rangers need to be more active
The pace of play at Mill pond is horrendous, played 1 week ago and had to leave after 15 holes. 9 holes took approximately 3 and a half hours. The Rangers do absolutely nothing to even try to improve this, it got to the point in which the group in front of us nearly got into a physical altercation with the group in front of them.
Today I thought it couldn’t be the same, I arrived and the parking lot wasn’t busy and not many people at the driving range, typically good signs that a quick round was ahead...I was wrong. While it wasn’t as bad as my previous round my group got through 16 holes before sunset. Mind you our tee time was a late afternoon weekday on any other course I’d expect to finish and be home before dark, the GPS cart said we were 40 mins behind the pace while waiting at every tee box approximately 5-10 mins.
This could be one of the nicer Suffolk county tracks, but the pace of play and the maintenance of the bunkers (more rocks and pebbles than actual sand) defeats that opportunity.
PS: I was told today that they’re no longer doing single riders, I guess Covid is no longer serious. If you want to be a single rider you must pay extra!
Hi u924927243. Thanks for coming out to Mill Pond. Covid-19 and all that it entails has also created a large demand for Golf. We do our best to manage pace of play including GPS monitoring. We have found an uptick in new golfers that like to play in the afternoon and evening which sometimes causes slower play. We recommend better golfers come earlier in the day as we typically play sub-4 hour rounds in the am. Hopefully you will give us another chance when the Tee Sheet is a little less busy. We hope to see you again in the future.
