Lazy golfers
The fairways and bunkers are in great shape the problem is people do not know how to bend over to fix a ball mark this has caused the greens to be extremely rough and choppy really takes away from the course

Nice Long Island Golf Course
The Woods at Cherry Creek in Riverhead was an enjoyable golf course. It’s a tight golf course, so accuracy off the tee is important. The fairways were nice & the greens were also nice. The greens were also a nice speed (not too slow, not too fast). I would definitely play this golf course again.

Bad Staff
They held on to my credit card for a club rental and forgot to give my credit card to the staff member near the golf carts and they had left for the day. The pro shop was locked and I was unable to get my credit card bad until waiting for 30 minutes for someone to come. Very bad staff and organization.

I was sitting in the bar area for your little incident. Being a Ken to people trying to help you is a douche move. The manager made multiple phone calls to accommodate the fact that you forgot your card and later your clubs, which he secured for you. They are in the pro shop you just threw under the bus. The next time you drink yourself into forgetting things, don't take it out on the staff that try to help you, while I saw you near tears btw. Take some ownership of your problem, the staff here were overly accommodating as they always are. I hunted this post down because they deserve the credit for how much they do.
Claustrophobic
Too tight for the average golfer. It’s one thing to have a chute to tee from, but 400 yards of trees gets to you. If your natural shape is draw or fade, there’s very little room to work it. This slows down everything and backs the course up. Let’s face it. The majority of golfers can’t break 100 and if you are spending a lot of time looking for the ball, it’s just no fun. Bunkers are thin and hard and rock filled. The greens are covered with dead spots from fungal infection. The rough is very thick and dense, and be careful not to break your wrists. I shot 101 and the next day went to Bethpage Green and shot a more normal 84. It’s just not a fun day at the Woods. I won’t play this course again unless it’s less than $30 and I really am itching to play and want to get a good walk in. But that’s all it will be. A walk in the woods.

Several tree line fairways that requires accuracy off the tee. Challenging but fair.

Great layout tough but fair
The woods is named appropriately, you learn to hit straight, or find yourself in the woods. Don't try to advance, just pitch it out and move on.
