Would have been better.....
It was our second time playing at The Woods. We were paired with two women who allegedly play often but apparently don't believe in "ready golf" and course etiquette. They constantly chatted away during our golf swing and were so slow. What should have been a 4.5 hour round wound up being six hours. In any event, my husband and I will be back.
Tight fairways
Tightest fairways I've played. More narrow than Spring Lake. Played in morning. Green speeds are inconsistent due to amount of shade on greens. They dry out when/if sun hits them. Overall, course in good shape. I would recommend as a course to play, but I will venture to other courses before going back
Fabulous day all around!
Driving Out East, The Woods is one of our favorite courses! Always worth the trip!
great course
Nice Day, Nice Course just a little slow ,but still ok.
Nice..
Played under 4 hours which was nice.. Sand traps too rocky.. Greens rolled well but a little slow for my taste.. They were rolling the greens at 1pm and had someone blowing leaves or cutting grass on every other hole which is great they care about conditions but don't think that should be going on at noon but more so at 5-6am before everyone's out playing already.. Overall a challenging little track with friendly staff (although I told them they had no toilet paper in men's stall and 4 hours after my round they still didn't)
I'd play there again.. Bring a roll with ya
Nice track
The course is worth the $.
It's not very long, windy or gimmicky. Not many memorable holes. I remember only 2-3 that I'd like another crack at.
The course does demand accuracy off the tee since most fairways are tight and tree lined. However, you won't lose many balls due to misses into the trees. Errant tee shots kick back into play as often as not. Distances allow par saves when that happens.
The whole facility has the feel of a private course/club.
It's a nice round, low stress. $45 is about right.
I'd go back when in the area.
Caveat emptor: Single digit handicappers may be underwhelmed.
Solid course for the money
Conditions were the best part - consistently good. Fairways and greens could both do to be a bit shorter/harder, but all in all nice maintenance. Traps are good and all is very green. Layout is not great, but keeps it interesting enough. Course does have lots of trees, but they maintain grass under the trees so finding the ball is not too much of an issue. Even with all the trees, not a very difficult layout. Big greens.
Tight Fairways
Fairways are in good condition. Don't hit into the trees you will loose your ball.
Great Day
Fairways are too long. if you high ball you get no roll.
The rough is about 4 - 6 inches thick.
You should have one not both. Course plays long.
Woods
Fairways and greens in very good shape. Play was a little slow but course was full.
Excellent value good course friendly staff
Great value on north fork of Long Island. The staff is very friendly, the course was in excellent condition, greens were in very good shape and rolling true. The restaurant was good too, played as a threesome and we played just under 4 hours. Will be back!
the rough was too rough
The rough was so thick I had to move the ball
Otherwise it was .
Course was challenging but needs attention
Enjoyable, play moved quickly. Great value but the course was pretty beat up
Beautiful course BUT......
Because this course has a lot of trees, and some of fairways are not very wide, it is not a great place to play fall golf. Many fairways AND greens had a lot of leaves, which made putting difficult, and in some instances, it was impossible to find the ball, even on the fairway, and near the green. The links course across the street would have been a much better play. But I would come back to this course spring and summer.
nice course to play..good layout of holes
Too many leaves on or near the fairway. Hard to find your golf ball. Course needs to blow the leaves of the fairway and into the deeper rough. Gets frustrating when you can't find you ball .
Good course. Too bad about the leaves.
They have done a better job of clearing the fairways in the past. But this was a Monday.
Nice course. Would play again.
Nice course. Not overly long with nice greens. All in all it was an enjoyable experience. Will be playing again.
Some holes are very challenging.
This course is great and well maintained. We will surely come back next summer.
Great course
Trees on both sides of the fairway but not to narrow that it makes it to difficult. Raised greens with hazards in just the right places makes you think a little. Can't wait to play there again.
