Fairways are terrible and Golf carts need attention
When you drive up and see golf carts all miss-matched and some have tape on them then you know they do not take care of the course. The fairways are truly terrible. The greens were a 6 out of 10 but everything else needs attention.
Need work
Fairways were like the rough. Needed cutting. Course need some work. Not worth the money I paid
Below avg conditions
Left after 9 holes. Greens were slow. Fairways were same grass as rough. Looks like course is about to go under. Staff was friendly
Bad Shape
This course is in very bad condition. The greens were so bad that it felt like playin in Velcro. One good thing was the staff was very friendly.
Off Season Round
Please keep in mind that this was an off season round. August in Florida, very hot, very humid, and had been for weeks. Played early to try and minimize the heat. Hooked up with a couple of locals (I was down from New Jersey). We were the first ones out so Pace of play was not an issue. Started on ten because they were doing work on the front. Island pines is a flat course that meanders through ponds, palms and it's neighborhood. The twists and turns make the course somewhat interesting and provide it's defense. The greens on our front nine were very rough and choppy. Much better on the back. I guess that is what they were working on. Again, off Season, cooler weather and more attention to maintenance would make this a great course for a somewhat relaxing tune-up round, or for a beginner, or novice golfer.
The real pleasure came post-round when I spent some time in the clubhouse with some extremely nice employees, regulars and other visitors. Overall a great mid-summer getaway round.
Needs help
Fairways are pretty rough and greens are slow. Some of which might be because of recent aeration and extended dry weather. However, recent rains have left wet areas on the course. In fairness the course is very inexpensive.
Pretty good but…
The course is pretty good considering the limited traffic you see. The pace of play is great UNTIL staff decide on a whim drive on the course and tee off right after you. It really throws off your pace. If that wouldn’t happen, it’s a great place to practice your golf game - it’s nowhere near PGA quality as far as the course goes, but is one that we enjoy playing at.
Note: amenities are very dated, but that’s not what your there for.
Friendly staff, nur course was not in good conditions
Really friendly staff, course was not good, fairway in bad conditions, Greens Long=Slowly.
For 15 Dollar ok, More ist too much.
So so
The greens are very nice. Need lots of of grass. To bad because it is a nice lay out!
Starter prejudice?
We were a foursome incl an African American and a disabled veteran. We’re all decent golfers. We were HARRASSED not once, but 4x by Starters telling to to pick up pace! We finished in 4hr20min after waiting 15 min to tee off at our time due to the group ahead.. In 18 holes there were 2 holes where we were putting out and someone drove up to the tee behind us. In over 25 yrs playing all over the country I never had been HARRASSED by Starters like that. They refunded my round because I filed a complaint but not my partners. I can’t prove discrimination but it sure was an uncomfortable , unsettling round of golf that is supposed to be fun. As a business owner, I don’t get much time off and this experience blew the one day I had off in 2 weeks. Disappointing.
Beautiful course
Very playable. Homes around the course have character. Enjoyed a pleasant day on the course.
