Locals Course
Friendly people and friendly on your wallet. Good pace of play and the course layout is interesting. It has good bones. Conditioning was mediocre at best.
Decent track, ok condition. Friendly staff.
Had not played this course in many years. The fairways were in decent shape for the most part however, there were bear areas and patchy areas in some of the fairways. The greens (most important to
all of the guys in our group) were on the slower side but rolled consistently on the front 9. The back nine greens did not have as consistent a roll as the front and were still on the slower side getting very bumpy on a few holes. Condition of greens was probably due to a combination of extended cloudy weather not permitting faster grass growth and too much rain making it difficult to cut greens lower without risking damage from mowers. Course will be great with some more grass growth overall and cutting greens closer. Value of play ok for the day we played but could get real good quickly.
Overall layout is good. I like how it’s mostly wide open fairways, wish the golf carts were a little more up to date
Can't Beat it for the .oney
All around a good value. Coarse is in overall good
condition from tees, to fairways, to greens. Alot of play,
but pace of play was good.
Good Not Great.
I played it for the first time, and it made me surprised by all the five star reviews. I love that they’re no houses around and the holes are pretty interesting, but the tee boxes are not in very good shape… they are nice and flat, but lots of divots and bare spots. The most surprising was the Fairways… lots of the areas are very nice with lots of grass, but there are quite a few spots that are in need of more grass. I was told that it’s because there’s been so much rain down here that the water killed the grass…I mean it was fine. I just played winter rules everywhere in the fairways and in the rough. And the greens held nicely and did not have a lot of ball marks and were smooth though slow which I don’t mind. I’d rather have them slow and smooth then ridiculously fast and smooth… so all in all a good time, but not a great time. I played seven courses in four days on my trip down And I would say Fairwinds would be in the middle of the pack behind the Florida club, Lost lake, and hammock Creek. And as you can probably guess the three courses I just mentioned cost almost twice as much as Fairwinds so who knows maybe I should have Fairwinds closer to the top because of the great deal.
